SEPTEMBER 2020’S BEST MEN’S GROOMING DROPS
THE BEST RELEASES IN MALE SKINCARE, HAIRCARE AND FRAGRANCE THIS MONTH
Written by Nick Hogan in Grooming on the 28th September 2020
After an unexpected break, thanks to a global pandemic, I’m back to share all the best products in grooming and fragrance. My last grooming drops article was way back in March, which seems like a lifetime ago, and means there’s plenty for you all to catch up on over the coming months.
Shakeup Cosmetics Eye Eye Captain
Sleep is important, now more than ever. Unfortunately, all manner of life’s ups and downs can get in the way of it. Eye Eye Captain was created to keep your eyes looking their best no matter what. Eye Eye Captain is a concealer and moisturiser, which cools and massages the skin, reduces puffiness, is SPF15 and hides imperfections with its colour correcting technology. Available in 3 shades, it’ll be the perfect companion for any man's eyes this season.
Available from harveynichols.com - £20
D.S. & DURGA - Crystal Pistil
Have you ever worn a fragrance and felt it needed a little something extra? Crystal Pistil is a beautiful orange blossom scent that can be worn by itself, with notes such as jasmine, musk, ambrette and pink pepper. It’s refreshing yet comforting and created from a memory of a Moroccan store by perfumer, David Moltz. Crystal Pistil however can also be layered with other perfumes to add a touch of that beautiful orange blossom dew to your day.
Available from e-scents.co.uk - £220 for 100ml
Below the Belt Grooming
I’ve covered manscaping in previous grooming drops, but how about keeping things fresh down there? Below the Belt set about creating products to address the real issues men have, perspiration and chafing. The range includes a Sports Lubricant, perfect for applying before the gym or a big event. Fresh & Dry Balls aims to do exactly as the name suggests, keep you fresh for up to 8 hours. My personal favourite is Instant Clean Balls, perfect for a quick freshen up throughout the day.
Available from btbgrooming.co.uk - £5.95 - £9.95
Bulldog - Glass Razor
Sustainability is a hot topic at the moment, and Bulldog are championing the cause by combining two of my favourite things, grooming and beer. Each handle is created from at least 70% recycled glass from beer bottles, and is itself fully recyclable. Better yet, each razor comes with it’s own stand for proudly displaying and maintaining your razor, and yes, it too is recyclable. It’s available in original green and sensitive blade blue. Great work Bulldog, cheers to that!
Available from boots.com - £15
Jusbox - Night Flow
Jusbox is a fragrance brand that take inspiration from the world of music for their fragrance line. From acid house to grunge, there's a fragrance to match your favourite genre. With Night Flow they’ve reimagined a New York city summer's evening, where MCs are beat battling and the block party is in full flow. Night Flow is a fruity amber scent featuring notes of raspberry, osmanthus, patchouli and leather. It smells as great as the music sounds.
Available from jusboxperfumes.com - €180 for 78ml
Harry’s - Sharper Blades
From this September, Harry’s have launched their sharpest ever blades, whilst maintaining the same price. Through owning their own factory in Germany, they’re able to innovate whilst keeping the costs down for the customer. Better yet, they’ve revamped their packaging to be more eco friendly, plastic free and recyclable. To top it off they've released two new Truman handle colours, Indigo Blue and Tropical Green, perfect to brighten up your morning routine.
Available from harrys.com - £8
Shoreline Skincare
Shoreline was founded by Ben D’Alton, a barber by trade, who could not find a natural skincare range to stock in his barbershop, so he created his own. My favourites from the line are the wonderful hybrid oil, which can be used as a cleanser, pre shave oil, or beard oil. Also the finishing serum, a fantastic post shave balm. Finally, the shampoo bar, beautifully scented with bay leaf, tea tree, lime and mint, leaves you hair feeling nourished, and it’s better for the environment too.
Available from shorelineskincare.co.uk - £6.95 - 14.95
Ruffians
Two time winners of the UK barbershop of the year award, Ruffians have had lots of experience in learning what works for your hair. Their products have been developed for use in their barbershops, and to give you the experience at home. The hair styling range includes the amazing hair powder which gives structure and volume to your hair, whilst their hair cream nourishes and controls. Ruffians expertise may be just what you need to refresh your look this autumn.
