MENSWEAR STYLE X SOHO CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE 2018
PRESENTS TO BRING A SMILE FROM SOME OF THE BEST STORES IN THE CITY
Written by Bec Loades in Stockists on the 29th November 2018
The Christmas lights have been lit and the festive season is well and truly upon us. Retailers are getting ready for one of the busiest times of the year and we know how chaotic it can get as the countdown to Christmas begins. We want to try and make it easier for you this year by supplying you with a list of gift ideas from certain areas and shopping destinations of London. They might be products you want to purchase for a loved one, or simply add to your own wish list. And hopefully with a mix of clothing, homeware and accessories, from some of the best stores in the city, you won't have to leave your shopping to the last minute.
For our first destination, MenswearStyle went out into Soho. With so much to choose from in this area, it's hard to pinpoint the best options. However, see below for some of our favourite items that we think will bring a smile on Christmas Day. Even if you have been extremely organised and finished your shopping, it is worth checking out some of the new shops in the area; particularly the beautiful Byredo and new home for sneakerheads, END Clothing.
Sandqvist Bernt Multi Backpack
You can find some fantastic accessories from this Nordic urban lifestyle brand. We really like the Bernt Multi Beige/Blue Backpack as it is an ideal piece for the city commuter. For any cyclists, the backpack is made out of water resistant Cordura EcoMade polyester and has a roll-top to enable more space for storage. There is also a laptop sleeve on the back of the bag to keep it separate from the rest of the contents. We love the colour of this piece and it makes for a really smart and fashionable backpack. Perfect for any travels further afield too.
Oliver Spencer Waltham Jacket
The mustard yellow hue of this jacket from Oliver Spencer might be adventurous for some but we can guarantee it is bang on trend. This classic piece of outerwear is a great layer to keep you protected from the wind and rain whilst making you look stylish. The boxy style would look great with dark denim and mountain boots. It is available in other colours but we think any fashionable man would be happy to open this on Christmas morning.
Malin & Goetz Dark Rum Table Candle
If you haven't stopped by the newly-opened London branch of END Clothing, then you should make it top of your list before Christmas. This is a place to indulge in some serious spending on some high-end clothing such as a snazzy pair of Thom Browne brogues. They have a great selection of some of the industry's most popular brands, such as Acne Studios, Our Legacy, Moncler and Maison Margiela. You don't want to miss out on the impressive 'sneaker wall' and a modern marble beauty section. As well as clothing and accessories, in store, END have an eclectic mix of homewares and if you don't want to break the bank over a gift, we can highly recommend a Malin & Goetz Dark Rum candle.
Byredo La Selection Violette Candle Set
Another spot to add to your stores to visit is the beautifully designed Byredo. Having taken over a five storey townhouse, you are immediately taken back by the minimal and luxurious layout of this Swedish perfume and accessories brand. The impressive spiral staircase will take you up to a relaxing seating area where you can lust over their leather goods. A bag for yourself or a loved one will make the perfect investment piece. And if you are looking for one of their iconic home fragrances, the special edition Violette Candle set is bound to please. Stuck for choice? Just ask the incredibly helpful and informative staff who will make it easy for you.
Aesop Moroccan Neroli Shaving Duet
For any man who likes to look after his skin, Aesop offer some great grooming products. This set contains the Neroli Shaving Serum and Neroli Post-Shave Lotion which will help keep skin smooth and hydrated in this cold weather. This is an ideal gift for someone who travels a lot as it will fit nicely into a wash bag and could even be used on the plane on a long haul flight. Anyone who knows Aesop, will welcome this set into their daily grooming routine.
Clarks x Beams
Head to the store at 32 Berwick Street and add a pair of the Clarks x Beams collaboration suede desert boots to your Christmas wish list. Clarks have delved into their archives to create a capsule collection with the pioneering Harajuku-based Japanese brand. And don't turn your nose up at Clarks! They have totally transformed since the days of buying you clompy school shoes and are now considered a surprisingly stylish brand to wear on your feet.
Universal Works Lambswool Rollneck
This Nottingham-born brand offers clothing that is well made and won't go out of style in a flash. Perfect for the modern man who likes the casual worker-wear look, any piece from their current winter collection will make an appreciated addition to the wardrobe. We really like their loose and oversized knitwear, including their festive red rollnecks made from 80% lambswool. Wear this with one of their Bakers jackets and a pair of flannel chinos and you are set for a cold Christmas morning walk.
