According to statistics, around 60% of the UK population wear spectacles, but how many out of that 60% know what their face shape is? The answer is probably not very many and even less of them will buy their glasses accordingly. Don’t worry though. Once you know, it will make the process a whole lot easier. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve got a round, square, oval, triangle, star-shaped (well, maybe not star-shaped) face, there is a pair of glasses out there just for you and we’re going to show you how to find them. And if you're worried about where you can buy these glasses, there are plenty of websites to get glasses online so don't worry.

Glasses for Round Faces 

If you’ve been dealt a head rounder than Karl Pilkington’s your primary goal is going to be to add some lines and structure to it. The best way to achieve this is by opting for an angular frame. Square frames will work particularly well and if you really want to nail it, go for something thick and bold. This will help to highlight the natural angles of your face.

Glasses for Heart Shaped Faces  

Heart shaped faces are naturally top-heavy. This means that your primary objective is to make your chin appear broader, thus creating balance and symmetry. To do this, you’ll be best with a relatively thin frame, which is wide at the bottom. Clear plastic frames will work nicely too, or anything that draws attention to the bottom of the glasses and away from the top.

Glasses for Square Faces 

Those of us blessed with chiselled features and a defined jaw line need to do exactly the opposite of those of us with round faces. The goal is to soften the angles of your face. The best way to do this is to choose a circular frame, again, creating balance. Thin metal frames will do this best, as opposed to thick acetate.

Glasses for Oval Faces 

Congratulations, you’ve won the face shape lottery. Pretty much any frames you can think of will look great on an oval shaped face, but there are certain styles that will look the best. Aviator style frames look great on oval shaped faces, making them a solid choice. Having said that, feel free to experiment, because you can basically get away with anything.

Glasses for Rectangular Faces 

Men with a rectangular face shape will want to make the face appear shorter and wider. This can be done with rectangular framed spectacles. Especially keep an eye out for frames that taper slightly towards the bottom, which will help to enhance the natural chiselled properties of your face.
