It can be a confusing time in a gentleman’s life when one day he looks in the mirror and realises that the person staring back at him is no longer in his early twenties. It’s not the end of the world, but you are going to have to assess your wardrobe. As you edge further toward the big 30 there are certain things which it is no longer acceptable to have in your rotation. You see, any where up to the age of around 25 people are quicker to forgive you for any style mistakes - people might say things like “look at the state of his hair… he’s only young though I suppose”, and “he’s just experimenting with that kaftan” - but really, when the clock ticks 30 you should have a good enough idea of what looks good and what doesn’t. Just in case you’re still unsure let us help you by identifying some of the things you really need to ditch before turning 30.

Baggy Sagged Jeans 

Has there ever been a more ridiculous trend in the entire history of fashion than wearing loose baggy skater jeans that hang below your buttocks? This never looked good, and it especially doesn’t look good now that you’re going thin on top and have developed a beer-belly.

Festival Wristbands 

Ok, we get it, you like festivals and you want everybody to know how much of a fun, outgoing type of guy you are. Well, if you really were that type of guy then you wouldn’t need a forearm full of grimey old festival bands to prove it to yourself and everyone else. Do yourself a favour and get the scissors out.

Skinny Jeans 

There are very few men in their 30s who have the necessary legs to pull of a pair of skinny jeans so chances are you’re not one of them. Stick with slim or straight cuts to avoid looking like Russell Brand, unless that’s what you’re aiming for, in which case you may be on the wrong website.

Dodgy Hats 

Try to use your judgement on this one as much as possible but we will give you a few examples to get the ball rolling: trucker cap, oversized beanie, New-Era Snapbacks... it’s not difficult.

Obnoxious Graphic T-Shirts 

We don’t mean you can’t have anything printed on your t-shirt but we are firm believers in a "less is more" type of approach. For example, if your chosen t-shirt features a print of a man riding a skateboard, which covers your entire torso then it’s probably time to find some new ones.

(Un)Funny Slogan T-Shirts 

The only people who have ever been drawn to a man because of a funny slogan on his t-shirt are other men with funny slogans on their t-shirts. So unless you want to become the kind of guy that watches repeats of Star Trek whilst eating Pot Noodles in a room full of men wearing t-shirts with funny slogans on, then we’d suggest you bin it.
