Written by Paddy Maddison in Brands on the 20th July 2016
We've been searching the globe to round up the best menswear brands you need to know about. From Europe to Asia, we've been hand picking some of the top brands from some of the world's best-dressed nations so that you can check them out. If you're up for exploring some new brands then you should definitely check out France; a country synonymous with all things fashion and style and with some of the coolest brands on the face of the earth. We’ve rounded up a few of the best.
A.P.C.
If you don’t already know about Jean Touitou’s ready-to-wear brand then you really should give yourself a shake. A.P.C. are the embodiment of Parisian style, known for their minimalist designs, clean lines and simple patterns. They are the perfect go-to brand for all your wardrobe staples. They’re also well known for their selvedge jeans, which are exceedingly popular amongst denim enthusiasts - a notoriously difficult bunch of people to satisfy - so they must be doing something right!
AMI
Having previously worked at Dior, Givenchy and Marc Jacobs, Alexandre Mattiussi is no stranger to high-end fashion and in 2011 he decided to launch his own label, AMI. AMI is a menswear label focusing on subtle, street-savvy style, the type championed by the man himself. The brand made an impact with editors in its first season and has remained popular ever since, being stocked in some of the world’s most prestigious fashion stores such as Corso Como and Bergdorf Goodman.
Maison Kitsuné
A fashion and music brand in almost equal parts, Maison Kitsuné are known for their mixtapes and record label as well as their sleek Parisian style of clothing. The label launched in 2002 and since then it has been kitting out men and women who know in clothes that take Parisian chic and give it a modern twist.
Kenzo
Founded by Japanese designer Kenzo Takada, KENZO is a French luxury fashion label that is now headed up by Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, who have gained the brand fresh interest over recent years. Since it’s birth all the way back in 1970 KENZO has become a leading name in avant-garde design and a familiar name on the streets of Paris.
Vetements
Paris based label Vetements have been tearing the fashion world a new one for the past couple of years, thanks in no small part to nods from the likes of Kanye West and Rihanna. Known for their oversized graphic print hoodies, long rain coats and possibly most of all, the infamous DHL T-shirt which divided the opinions of critics. Vetements may be a brand fuelled by hype but if you consider yourself fashion-forward then they need to be on your radar.
