PARAJUMPERS SPRING/SUMMER 2015
THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!
Written by Menswear Style in New Collections on the 18th May 2015
ParaJumpers is best known for its highly functional yet sophisticated take on luxury outerwear, and this season is no different: the Gruppo Volo Canadair, a professional pilots association of about 100 Italian civil pilots, is this season’s stylistic input of the ParaJumpers' Spring/Summer 2015 collection.
"The sky-high experience has become a style mantra in our Italian ateliers," explained Rossetti, Creative Director of ParaJumpers, when referring to the limited edition for the Canadair pilots – a personalised series of the Gobi bomber which will accompany the pilots on their important environmental missions.
Drawing on the key pieces that built ParaJumpers' creative identity throughout the years, this collection also features essential outerwear – such as featherlight zip-up bombers, down jackets, parkas, water repellent windbreakers and luxe goat skin jackets – that express comfort and practicality, while providing sporty styles with an impeccable fit.
In addition, the Spring/Summer 2015 collection celebrates the redefinition of the brand's cotton line with a bold technical approach. The line is made of double-faced twill, which is constructed with a nylon yarn on the outside (to give the fabric a shiny gloss), while the cotton jersey on the inside makes for a soft touch.
Earthy tones of wood, camel and forest green dominate with the chromatic palette interrupted by flashes of warm colours, such as terra-cotta and orange, and a touch of deep midnight blue – just like the endless blue horizon, that catches the eye of a pilot. The casual yet technical textures of the fabrics are reminiscent of sportswear, while the practical details of the garments are inspired by aviator aesthetics.
"The Spring/Summer 2015 looks are based on functionality, and yet we wanted to highlight a playful 'the sky's the limit' attitude," Rossetti added. "It's about enjoying the thrill of the experience up in the air, while keeping a strong style philosophy in mind." It takes a sense of daring joviality and perseverance to reach for the sky – and it reminds us that summer is here to stay.
