The Carlyle New York Hotel Review

The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel is a timeless classic in the heart of Manhattan’s Upper East Side, towering over Madison Avenue at 76th Street. This 35-story luxury hotel is a true emblem of the New York experience, offering a wealth of museums, galleries, designer shops and iconic Central Park, all within walking distance. Combining personalised service and discretion with Art Deco flare, The Carlyle strives to ensure guests feel immediately at home with elegant accommodations and legendary dining and entertainment.

The hotel has a real classic luxury appeal and they've held onto their high class service and traditions nicely. We really adored the old lifts which are full of character and each one includes a refined sharp looking Gentleman, ready to press the button and take you to your floor.

The Room

With 188 lavish rooms and suites, The Carlyle offers the exclusive ambiance of an Upper East Side pied-à-terre. Exquisitely decorated by legendary designers Thierry Despont and Alexandra Champalimaud, this New York luxury hotel provides elegance and comfort to its guests with some accommodations featuring baby grand pianos and views of Central Park and the city’s dynamic skyline.

We enjoyed a room in the tower providing spectacular views across the New York skyline. As soon as you walk through the door, the views through the large windows are the first thing to "wow" you. The room is large and features the nice editions of a fruit bowl, large flat screen TV, office desk, iPhone 5 docking alarm and a great selection of Kiehl's beauty products in the bathroom.

The Carlyle Restaurant

An elegant space that is superbly decorated, you’ll feel immediately at home while dining on a seasonally motivated menu. The restaurant has all the glitz and glamour that you'd expect from a hotel like this. The ambiance was good and the crowd was elegant and sophisticated. The restaurant is not too big so the noise is just about right and you'll feel exclusive as you receive top notch service from the waiters and your table captain.
