Welcome to your new stylish pad! Intimate and sophisticated, The Athenaeum Hotel is your home in London. A renowned Mayfair hotel, The Athenaeum is located in the heart of London on the bustling Piccadilly, opposite Green Park and moments from Hyde Park, Shepherd’s Market and the rest of Mayfair, London’s most famous neighbourhood. Arriving and entering the lobby you'll get the feeling that this is one very popular luxury boutique hotel.

The lobby, bar and afternoon tea areas are all buzzing. The hotel's art & design and interiors are quirky. Keeping the gentlemen happy, the hotel boast its very own 300+ whiskey bar neighbouring the restaurant.

The property opened as The Athenaeum Hotel in 1973 and so began a close relationship with the film industry, welcoming some of the biggest names in Hollywood throughout the 70s and long after. The hotel’s famous residents included Steven Spielberg, Marlon Brando, Harrison Ford, Lauren Bacall, Liza Minnelli, Elizabeth Taylor and Warren Beatty. The Athenaeum became the hotel of the stars, welcoming all the big names whenever they were working on film projects in England.

The Room 

The boutique, family-owned 5 star hotel in Mayfair features 164 bedrooms including the penthouse, 12 suites and 18 apartments with their own private front door in Mayfair. The Athenaeum apartments are a unique collection of private and luxurious fully serviced London apartments for short or long stays oozing elegance, convenience and style.

Our suite was on the 6th floor and featured views of St James Park. The attention to high design furniture is evident, with mixes of leather and industrial elegant chairs with a 60s inspired sofa and mirror and transparent desk and draws. It's like your stylish London city pad away from home, with a separate entrance/dressing area, living space, bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom is equipped with ESPA products and achieves the wow factor with the marble finish and oversized shower space. There's a Nespresso coffee machine and we give a big thumbs up to the freezer filled with Ben & Jerry's ice-cream.

Athenaeum Restaurant 

Once you've finished admiring the Whiskey bar and snapping pictures of rare finds, you walk through into the hotels intimate restaurant space. The understated glamour of The Athenaeum restaurant is the perfect setting for casual or fine dining with enjoyment of a modern British menu. The innovative and intimate seating which snakes across the room makes the 48-cover restaurant feel cosy, private and elegant. The menu is British themed, but if you're watching your waistband we recommend the 'make your own salad' which was really tasty. Also, because you've been good with the main course you can now have a dessert. That's the rule of course - we recommend the Apple Crumble!
