Tips for Personalizing Your Motorcycle

Do you own a motorcycle? If the answer is yes, why not personalize it? Personalizing your motorcycle can make it a more unique machine, in addition to making it entirely your own. However, unless you are a mechanic or have some kind of mechanical experience, it’s unlikely you will be able to start customizing your bike. Don’t worry though, as this post will tell you everything you need to know. In addition to providing some guidance on modifying your bike’s mechanical components, this article will explain how you can make other changes to your bike.

1. Modifying Your Seat

One of the first things you should consider changing if you want to personalize your motorbike is the seat. While it’s true that nobody can see the seat when you are riding, when your bike is parked, the seat is one of the first things that people’s eyes will go to. You can either replace your seat with a new one that stands out and matches your personality or you can buy Yamaha motorcycle seat covers and use them instead. Covers are a good way to save money if you want to change your seat’s appearance but don’t want to have to buy a new one and fit it yourself. Remember: If you are not confident working on your bike yourself, hire an expert.

2. Custom Paint Job

A custom paint job can make your bike look a lot cooler. However, you can’t repaint your bike yourself. You’ll have to take it to a professional detailing company. Bike culture is more popular than ever, so there are loads of aspiring artists with their own detailing shops that showcase their creations on social media platforms like Instagram and Snapchat. Working with one of these professionals can be a great way to save money. This is because they typically charge less than traditional detailing shops, mainly so they can attract business. However, the downside to working with them is that pictures of your motorbike will be plastered all over their pages upon completion. If that’s not something that bothers you in the slightest, go ahead and work with one.

3. Upgrading Sound System

Modern motorcycles typically come with stereo systems. You can usually hook your phone’s Bluetooth up and stream music. However, factory motorcycle stereos are not the loudest. If you love listening to music while you ride, why not upgrade your bike’s sound system? You can either take your bike to an approved mechanic or a private one. No matter where you take your bike, make sure that it’s a mechanic with good reviews and a solid reputation. Prioritize reviews posted on sites like Google Review and Trustpilot, as these are the internet’s review authorities and are a lot more trustworthy than other independent sites or reviews posted on the businesses’ websites themselves. If you are going to try and work on your bike yourself, make sure that you do your research and use guides. Under no circumstances should you work on a motorcycle if you don’t know what you are doing.

4. New Handlebars

New handlebars can be a cool way to upgrade your bike and make it look a lot more unique. There are many different kinds of handlebars, many of which change the way you ride your bike. For example, monkey bars (which are typically seen on choppers) require you to stretch to hold your bike’s handlebars. You can also buy clip-ons. It is usually possible to change one’s own handlebars. However, it’s not something you should attempt without a little experience or at least a guide for you to follow along with. Changing your handlebars does not require serious mechanical knowledge and can be done by amateurs with access to the internet. Make sure your handlebars are properly attached before attempting to ride your bike.

5. Mirrors and Levers

Mirrors and levers can be changed too. It’s possible to buy custom mirrors and levers, i.e., ones with miniature skulls or skateboards attached to them. You can typically fit your own mirrors and levers. However, you do need to make sure they are attached. If they come loose while you are riding, you could end up having an accident. Make sure that the mirrors and levers you fit are meant to be attached to your bike. If they are too big or too small, they could make your bike look strange. By customizing it, you obviously want your bike to look its best. You can buy mirrors and levers on the internet. One of the best places to pick them up is eBay. On eBay, you can find lots of used bike parts. The downside is that a lot of the parts posted there are for older bikes. If you have a newer bike, i.e., one made in the last 10 years, you might have to buy parts from the dealer.

6. LED Lighting

LED lighting is another way that you can enhance your bike. There are many different places on your bike where you can fit LED strips. You can also build LED lighting into your bike’s dashboard, backlighting it. However, LED installation is not typically something the average bike rider can do themselves. It’s a job you are most likely going to need a professional for. Fitting strips is easy enough and won’t require a professional’s help, however. You can attach strips yourself. All you have to do is stick them to the body of your bike.

7. Decals and Stickers

Finally, consider decals and stickers. Decals and stickers are a great way to improve your bike’s appearance and make it look more unique. A lot of people make the mistake of thinking that they have to spend a fortune on their bikes in order to make them look cool but that’s not true. Decals and stickers can completely transform your bike’s appearance and make it look much better. You can buy decals and stickers online and attach them yourself. Make sure they match your bike’s appearance and work with it.

Do you want to personalize your motorcycle? If yes, consider the tips given here. The information laid out in this post can help you enhance your bike’s appearance and make it look more unique. Make sure you give each point consideration and do everything you can to ensure your bike looks its best.
