JANUARY 2023’S BEST MEN’S GROOMING DROPS
Written by Nick Hogan in Grooming on the 30th January 2023
Firstly, happy new year to you all, and I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Sadly, it comes and goes quickly, and by now we’re well into January, whilst still writing 2022, you’ll get to grips with the 3 by February. Perhaps you’re undertaking dry January or attempting to stay on track with the 'new year, new you' gym routine. Well, keep going, you’re doing great! I’m here to share my favourite grooming picks, to help you start 2023 in the best way!
L’Occitane Bois Flotté
The latest addition to the men’s grooming range from L’Occitane is Bois Flotté Shower Gel, which translates to driftwood in English. Presented in a striking blue bottle, and scented with a fresh woody aquatic scent, Bois Flotté is perfect as a post gym shower gel. Notably, a little goes a long way with Bois Flotté, lathering well on my silicone shower scrubber (which I highly recommend btw) and leaving the scent on skin for several hours after showering. If you’re yet to experience the wonderful world of L’Occitane, then Bois Flotté is a perfect place to start, just don’t blame me once you’re quickly back for more!

Electimuss Imperium Travel Set
I’ve previously featured Imperium by Electimuss, a wonderful combination of bergamot, coriander, lily, jasmine, vanilla, guaiac wood and oud. An elegant and effortlessly wearable scent that works as well for formal occasions as it does daily wear. However, I just had to share the travel set with you all, consisting of 3 x 10ml spray refills and stunning travel atomiser. Perfect for taking on that weekend getaway, or keeping on hand for the instant fragrance top-up. Of course the set is also available with the other fragrances in the Electimuss line, which is extensive and luxurious. Why not give yourself a January treat?

Argentum
Argentum were founded with a goal to rekindle a childhood memory of the power of silver, and its miraculous power to heal. Argentum patented Silver Hydrosol and DNA HP, ingredients that have anti-bacterial properties and promote cell regeneration and the production of collagen. Argentum offer a range of products for hair, face, and fragrance. My picks are La Lotion Infinie, a hydrating silver lotion, and Hero eau de parfum, which is a firey combination of incense, agarwood, and clove bud. Each fragrance bottle also includes a talisman, incorporated into the cap, which is able to be unscrewed and removed. Each talisman is representative of the 12 symbolic images of the range. Looking for a bit more balance and harmony in your life? Take a look at Argentum!

Supergoop
Now I know we’re still very much in winter, although we can all hope and pray warmer days are coming soon. However, it’s never too early in the year to get all preachy about SPF is it? Supergoop are known as the Experts in SPF, with 15 years of experience, you know your skin protection is in good hands. My pick of the line is Unscreen Sunscreen, which as the name suggests, is completely invisible following application, whilst offering broad spectrum protection and most importantly (to me) doesn’t clog pores. Without doubt I’ll be giving you all another SPF reminder soon, for now, you’ve been told!

Paul Smith Home Fragrance
A home fragrance could be the luxurious finishing touch to take your home to the next level in 2023. Paul Smith offers a stunning range of candles and diffusers, each in elegant vessels designed to be reused, and you’ll want to reuse them, as they look so good! My favourite scent is botanist, with notes of lemon, black pepper, vetiver and moss, housed in a striking green vessel. Whilst we wait for the spring, why not bring the scent of a spring garden into your home, whilst adding some gorgeous glassware.

Scotch & Soda Barfly Parklife Edition
Barfly is Scotch & Soda’s signature fragrance, a sandalwood, vanilla, and lavender scent that’s cemented itself in many autumn and winter fragrance line-ups. Scotch & Soda have now released the latest addition to the line, Barfly Parklife Edition. Parklife is very much about the great outdoors, with notes of cypress, rhubarb, pine and vetiver, it’s green, earthy, and citrusy. In stark contrast to the original, this scent is invigorating rather than comforting, a scent that wants to be worn on a walk in the countryside. Best of all is the 30ml bottle size, because once you start building up a collection, you don’t always need the big one.
Available from Scotch & Soda - £40 >
Suru
January feels like the month of home fragrance for me, and a great opportunity to revisit the wonderful brand Suru. The minimal black on white logo design looks incredibly crisp, and would look fantastic in your home, just take a moment to picture it. The latest additions to the line are Hima Kush, a green scent that was created with personal memories of exploring the Himalayas. As well as Chandigarh ‘98, a rose scent which is an ode to the capital city of Punjab. Both scents would perfectly work this time of year, so why not treat yourself and your home!
