THE MOST STYLISH PRODUCTS AND RELEASES THIS MONTH
Written by Craig Landale in Essentials on the 19th May 2022
It’s been a very busy month for product drops, especially collaborations between fashion brands and designers. The summer styles are also coming in fast, which is perfect timing for my holiday to Lake Garda at the end of this month. You’ve got plenty to get through here, so take a tea break and enjoy the coolest drops for May 2022.
Chelsea Peers Shorelines Collection
From sipping cocktails gazing at the sunset or taking a walk along the sand to summer nights spent at home, this latest collection offers everything from relaxed nightwear to stylish co-ord sets and eye-catching swimwear that can be layered together to suit any destination. The Shorelines collection is Chelsea Peers’ largest menswear offering to date, featuring satin, linen and recycled polyester coverup sets, chinos and unisex shirts for the ultimate summer look. The collection also includes swimwear and trunks made from recycled fibres.
Humanery Makeup
Thankfully the world is a better place and more men are getting past the old stigma that makeup is only for women. Men's makeup is one of the fastest-growing categories in the global beauty industry and Humanery is proud to present a wide collection of men's makeup products. Whether you are looking for concealers, BB creams, eyeliners or mascara - you can find it. Join the revolution and add men's makeup products to your grooming, beauty and self-care regime. We’ve picked out this BB Tinted Moisturiser by Shakeup Cosmetics to get you started.
The Resort Co Terry Collection
The Resort Co is a Stockholm-based resort wear brand for men founded in 2019. The mission is to craft the perfect vacation wardrobe with a focus on high quality, slow production, and usage of the best and most sustainable materials. This spring, The Resort Co is introducing its first terry products. The comfortable fabric that has risen in popularity after its glory days as a pool party essential in the 1970s. The brand has developed a super soft and slightly stretchy terry cloth fabric, made from organic cotton.
BARNER Sunglasses
BARNER proposes a selection of functional, comfortable and very cool products, such as blue light protection glasses, sunglasses, backpacks and accessories for any time of the day, from working from home to traveling. Committed to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, they've obtained the B-Corp certification. We like these Light Havana Williamsburg Sun shades that will protect your eyes from UVA and UVB rays.
Lacoste L003 Sneaker
Brand new to this season, the genderless L003 shoe is about connection; it unites comfort and style, history and modernity, athletics and image, menswear and womenswear. The L003 is an athleisure silhouette, a re-invented runner shoe. It reflects Lacoste’s performance savoir faire, combining cross-training-inspired features with unique style-driven details. The shoe is designed for those on the move, with a great focus on comfort, and a fit that can be shaped and tailored to the individual wearer via a unique cage-like lacing system and a flexible tongue construction. An elongated outsole alludes to speed, while a herringbone sole detail references the Lacoste archive.
FRESCOBOL CARIOCA Surfer’s Paradise Collection
Inspired by the early-hour haziness of Rio’s beaches, this collection captures the serenity of the still waters, untouched sand and the mist that hangs in the quiet, morning air. A true paraíso dos surfistas. Featuring style staples that are as laid-back as they are luxurious, this season the brand plays on the tangibility of paradise, creating relaxed swimwear and apparel that embodies an ultra-cool surfer personality whilst alluding to the halcyon days spent on Rio’s idyllic beaches. The relaxed silhouette of our new Board Swim Shorts meets the indulgent softness of our Faustino Polo for effortless comfort, with a touch of Carioca flair.
Umbro x Nigel Cabourn Collaboration
Brit sportswear giant Umbro gets matchday-ready with a second-round Nigel Cabourn collab collection. Riffing on Cabourn’s military-led design expertise plus the designer’s Army Gym stores and loungewear collection, the new collection takes its lead from vintage British Army recruit PT gear and the Army Gymnastic Staff of the era. Reimagined for a contemporary consumer, the nine-piece collection joins the dots between retro training uniforms and casualised gymwear to deliver a range of styles which underlines Nigel Cabourn’s archive-informed design personality while ticking today’s trend boxes.
DC x Andy Warhol
DC Shoes have teamed up with The Andy Warhol Foundation to create custom footwear and apparel collection celebrating the artistic legacy of the preeminent American artist of the 20th century. The limited DC X Warhol Collection brings a fresh perspective to Warhol’s ubiquitous works through the lens of DC’s authentic skate heritage. Warhol is recognised for pioneering the collision of fine art and pop culture. His notoriety was created as much by his physical artworks as by his rich life immersed in NYC creative culture; the studio, the parties, his celebrity muses. The world will never forget Warhol's legacy and impact on contemporary American culture; he remains one of the most recognised artists of the 21st century.
TRIWA Summer Breeze Collection
Two years ago, Swedish watch brand TRIWA launched the world’s first watch made from recycled ocean plastic to raise awareness of the oceans’ critical health. After two successful years with nearly 20,000 units sold, the equivalent of approximately 40,000 PET bottles, they are now launching a limited, colourful summer collection made completely from recycled ocean plastic. The collection is inspired by early surf movies such as Gidget and Endless Summer and produced in collaboration with Tide Ocean Material, Switzerland.
MICHAEL KORS X ellesse SS22
Iconic American luxury fashion brand Michael Kors and luxe Italian sportswear brand ellesse are coming together for a celebration of the athletic styles of the 1970s. Fronted by model Emily Ratajkowski, Brooklyn-based rap musician Jay Critch and an uber-cool cast of musicians, models and multihyphenates, the collection's vibrant, sporty and glamorous designs are brought to life through a transportive campaign. Taking place in Miami, the campaign was shot by renowned fashion photographer Lachlan Bailey and styled by Mel Ottenberg, editor-in-chief of cult pop magazine Interview.
