8 TRANSITIONAL MEN’S FASHION ITEMS YOU SHOULD OWN
Written by Menswear Style in Get the Look on the 6th September 2021
The weather this week here in London is a perfect example of when it's time to start investing in a transitional wardrobe. The autumn elements will be here before we know it, so we believe now is a good time to get yourself sartorially organised. Today is a glorious summer day which will reach 27 degrees but by the weekend we’re back to rain and almost 10 degrees lower, and this is what we can expect for the remainder of September. So, with this in mind we’ve picked out some of our favourite transitional men’s fashion items to see you through all the way to the winter season.
Sebago Kenny Check Chore Jacket
Packed with pure North American DNA, the checkered chore lumberjack jacket is that mid to heavy weight overshirt that layers just strategically right as the colder season gets the better of the outdoors. Regular fit, it is made from thinly padded check pattern wool and lined with soft yet highly strong and resistant cotton moleskin fabric. The perfect marriage between function and style, this jacket offers warmth and weather protection while working nicely as a casual top layer, thanks to its comfort construction, versatility and timeless looks. Kenny is the nickname given by its inhabitants to the historical city of Kennebunkport in York County, Maine (USA).
Ted Baker Eyewear
Comprising of classic aviator styles and retro-inspired sunglasses, Ted Baker’s eye-catching eyewear will add instant appeal and frame your transitional look perfectly. And don’t go thinking that you don’t need to wear sunnies in the autumn and winter months because even on overcast and cloudy days UV light can still damage and place strain on your eyes. That’s a good enough excuse to wear shades all year round as any, don’t you think?
NOBIS Camden Trench
The modern-day trench offers a classic silhouette with a cotton/nylon fabrication, complete with Nobis’ signature Embrace membrane, seam-sealed construction, and premium lightweight lining. You’ll be constantly reaching for this coat to keep you dry over the coming months, not to mention the fabric isn't too hot for warmer autumn days, too. To get your money’s worth and wear throughout winter you’ll just need to layer it with chunky knitwear and make use of wool hats, scarves, and gloves. But let’s not go wishing the year away just yet!
Duke + Dexter Scott Loafers
Made in England, the Scott loafers are beautifully crafted from Italian leather and suede. The upper is washable - designed to be wiped down to remove any marks or dirt. Built on a flexible, non-marking sole and lined in comfortable leather, this Scott loafer is the perfect shoe for lazy days at home or dashing into town and is built to stay comfortable on foot.
Palladium Pallatrooper OX-1
As part of the Pallatrooper family of styles, this classy Oxford style has been crafted from premium leather and is built upon Palladium's trademark lugged outsole. To give a unique identity to the collection, the upper has added height and elegant design touches for a new utilitarian future, all while saluting their military past. Suited to any style from the workplace to chill space, this is the new Uniform of the People.
Finnieston Clothing Linthouse Jacket
Glasgow’s Finnieston Clothing returns to the AW21 season with new additions to their growing collection of core pieces. The Linthouse jacket is made from a hardwearing organic cotton twill workwear fabric and available in both green and navy. The Linthouse is the perfect companion for the colder seasons, partnering well with workwear chinos as well as denim for that cool, easy-going casual aesthetic, and can utilised as a key layering garment.
AVI-8 Hawker Hurricane Carey
Designed to pay tribute to one of Britain’s most distinguished fighter aces and commanders, the Hawker Hurricane Carey Dual Time is inspired by the successes of Frank Reginald Carey across the globe during WWll. A precise and reliable Japanese quartz dual time movement powers this timepiece, allowing the wearer to easily track time in two locations. Nodding to the global exploits of Carey, each timepiece is named after a location that he was stationed at during his esteemed career with the RAF.
Oliver Spencer The Conduit T-Shirt
Oliver Spencer's “The Guy Upstairs” collection features a host of new, relaxed menswear silhouettes punctuated by rich ecological wools, organic cottons and recycled fabrics, all brought to life in a late ‘70s-inspired colour palette. The title of the collection comes from Oli’s observation of style during lockdown last year and in particular a neighbour of the store, who deftly mixes Oliver Spencer pieces with vintage clothing. This regular fit, straight hem tee, constructed from a beautifully soft organic cotton is a perfect transitional piece which will take you into the autumn months ahead.
