TOP 10 SKINCARE FAVOURITES FOR GENTLEMEN
Written by Nick Hogan in Beauty on the 22nd March 2021
Gentleman, it’s time to kick your skincare regime up a notch. The ever growing men's grooming market is full of new and exciting products to help you look and feel better, here are my top 10 picks.
Obagi Professional-C Serum
Obagi are a luxury skincare brand who were founded in 1988 and have since built up a range of products for both the medical and retail space. Obagi Professional-C Serum contains L-Absorbic Acid (Vitamin C) and is available in 10/15/20% formulations depending on your skin type, with the former better suiting dry or sensitive skin, and the latter for normal to oily skin. I used 5 drops daily, and my skin felt noticeably smoother and clearer, a fantastic addition to my daily routine and I'm safe in the knowledge that it works throughout the day to protect me from free radicals and UV rays.
Available from Obagi - €106.64 for 30ml
Triumph & Disaster Restoration Balm
Triumph & Disaster is a brand born from a Rudyard Kipling poem and a philosophy of combining the best of science with the best of nature. Restoration Balm is an all over moisturiser that hydrates and protects skin, featuring exotic ingredients such as Kawakawa, Goji and Dragons Blood. Restoration Balm leaves the skin feeling smooth and is scented with sandalwood, neroli and patchouli. Remember gents, moisturising doesn’t start and finish with your face.

The Other Saint Eye Gel
The Other Saint are the good guys trying to rid us all of our grooming sins, a family run brand based in the South Coast of England. The Other Saint have a fantastic line, but my favourite product is their Eye Gel. Ingredients include Arnica Oil which keeps puffiness and dark circles at bay, whilst Aloe Vera rejuvenates and repairs. What I love most is the cooling feeling that gel offers over cream, it stays on skin a little longer, making the moments after application a real treat. Better yet, pop it in the fridge ready for a summers day.
Available from The Other Saint - £17.50 for 30ml
Life Jacket Daily Protection Moisturiser
Life Jacket was founded by three guys in their thirties who found themselves struck by the high rate of skin cancer amongst men. Life Jacket was born and a range of products released to educate and protect. Daily Protection Moisturiser is rated SPF 30 and UVA 5* making it perfect for daily use, not only protecting your skin from damage and premature ageing but keeping your skin moisturised, whilst being lightweight and clinically approved for sensitive skin. Take care of your skin gents!

Woods Copenhagen Lip Repair
Woods Copenhagen was born following founder Martin Lyne’s pursuit of treating his daughters eczema and blossomed in to the brand it is today. Carrying a lip balm in my pocket is the best change I’ve made to my skincare regime in recent times, and there’s no better option than Lip Repair. If you can resist the refreshing mint flavour, your lips will feel soft and hydrated, leaving a matte finish. Arctic spring water from Northern Greenland gives a distinct Nordic influence, which aids in absorption thanks to rich levels of oxygen and low levels of minerals. Pop one in your pocket, treat your lips.
Available from Woods Copenhagen - £20 for 15ml
Buly 1803 Creme Pogonotomienne Shaving Cream
Buly 1803 are renowned for their water based perfumes and natural beauty products. A prestigious brand with great heritage. My favourite product from their line is Creme Pogonotomienne Shaving Cream. It’s a treat for the senses as the luxurious cream is applied, followed by the wonderful scent combination of sweet almond and Hinoki wood. Shaving can feel like a chore, why not make it a whole lot more enjoyable.
