How to Get Ready for the Spring Fashion Update

Preparing for the new fashion season takes some careful planning but it can be a lot of fun. As the thick knits and heavy coats of Winter make way to lighter, more colourful outfits, it is a great opportunity to be creative with your new wardrobe. Spring 2021 is particularly exciting with so much of the world looking to finally escape the gloom of the Covid-19 Pandemic. What better way to celebrate than to hit the town or the beach in a whole new outfit. To help everyone prepare their wardrobes for the new season ahead, here is how to get ready for the Spring fashion update.

1. Assess Last Year’s Wardrobe

The first thing you need to do to get ready for the Spring fashion update is to assess last year’s wardrobe and see which items are still good to wear this year. Spring clothes are great because the colours of the season are often the same, so items stay in fashion year after year. By seeing which items from last year you can still wear, you will be able to allocate more of your budget to other areas of your wardrobe. For example, if you still look great in your 2020 Spring shorts, you can use that money for some new jeans or a new pair of trainers. Never throw out items at the end of a season, even if you don’t wear them, because you never know how you will feel about them in future years.

2. Identify Must-Have Items

While there are many classic Spring items which will last for many years, every new Spring season has its own hot items which are a must-have for any fashionable chap. You can easily find out what is going to be hot by staying up to date with the latest trends by reading blogs and fashion magazines such as The Rake and Esquire. The Big 4 February Fashion Weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris are when the top designers showcase their Spring/Summer collections. You can tune into these shows to see which way the industry is going each year and to look out for the colours and styles which will be in style each Spring season. You may not be able to afford everything on show, but you can choose one item to treat yourself to each year.

3. Check Out The High Street

After the fashion shows, the high street designers always kick into action and start designing their own versions of those hot ticket items. Instead of paying thousands for a designer jacket, you will be able to pick up an almost identical item for less than a hundred. Unless you are a full-blown celebrity with a wallet to match, this is the ideal way to look stylish on a budget. Accessorise expensive clothes with affordable accessories and vice versa. This mix and match style is timelessly dapper and can make everything you are wearing really pop. The most glamorous celebs and style icons on the planet are famed for mixing designer and high street so don’t be afraid to experiment and see what works for you.

4. Bag a Few Bargains

In order to make the most out of your budget, you will need to shop intelligently and look out for a few bargains. One way to do this is to use discount vouchers which you can find online or you may receive as part of a customer loyalty program. There are many excellent voucher websites for top high street stores or clothing catalogues such as Kohl’s. If you are looking to get more Kohl vouchers with big discounts or cashback offers then a quick Google search should lead you in the right direction. As well as using vouchers, you can also bag some bargains by buying Winter items which are about to go off the shelves. These items will be heavily discounted at the end of each Winter season so look out for items which will still be appropriate for Spring and pick them up at bargain prices.

5. Create a Balanced Wardrobe

When the warmer Spring weather comes along it can be tempting to just spend your whole budget on shorts and t-shirts. It is important to remember that you aren’t going to be spending the next three months on the beach or picnicking in the park. Make sure that you create a balanced wardrobe with outfits for work, casual socialising, and a few sharp outfits for big nights out. Planning ahead is always best when you are putting your Spring wardrobe together because the last thing you want is to find you have spent all your money but don’t have anything to wear when an important event comes around.

6. Choose Items Suitable for Summer

In order to get the most bang for your buck, it is always worth choosing items which will be suitable for both the Spring and the Summer season. If you live in a warm place then this is easy as your Spring clothes will be perfect for the later months. If Summer where you live is dramatically warmer than Spring, however, you will need to be a little more imaginative. Try buying clothes which you can wear in layers during the Spring so that when Summer comes around you can just take some of the layers off. This will mean that you don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe so you can spend more money on a few designer items to treat yourself. It is amazing how the same shirt can look great with a pair of fitted trousers for work in the Spring, and can then be transformed with a pair of shorts and some boat shoes for a party in the Summer.

Spring is one of the most exciting seasons for fashion as it is a chance to have some fun after a cold, dreary winter. This year more than any other in recent memory, everyone needs a little colour and sunshine in their lives. Check out the latest trends, shop for a bargain, and look for items which will still be good to wear during Summer. Follow this easy guide and you will be ready for the first rays of sunshine.
