OCTOBER 2020’S BEST MEN'S GROOMING DROPS
THE BEST RELEASES IN MALE SKINCARE, HAIRCARE AND FRAGRANCE THIS MONTH
Written by Nick Hogan in Grooming on the 29th October 2020
It’s wet, windy and getting darker by the evening. Autumn seems to be charging ahead at a great pace, leaving crunchy leaves underfoot and enchanting colours all around. I’m here to make sure your grooming routine is keeping pace with the seasons, so here are my picks of the best grooming drops available this October 2020.
Gallivant - Bukhara
Gallivant are all about travel, their line takes inspiration from cities around the globe. The latest stop on their journey is Bukhara, the fifth largest city in Uzbekistan and located on the Silk Road. Featuring notes of orris, caraway, jasmine, bergamot and pear, Bukhara strikes a balance between earthy, spicy and floral, whilst notes of pear and apricot give the scent a fresh and playful element. In a world where we’re all yearning to travel, a trip to Bukhara may just be the adventure we need.
Available from Gallivant - 30ml for £65
Horace
The range of products from Horace seems to be ever-expanding, and that's certainly no bad thing. They’ve just introduced an Under-eye Serum that reduces dark circles around the eye, and smooths, firms and hydrates your skin. Also newly released is their Purifying face mask that of course purifies your skin, as well as regulates excess sebum and nourishes your skin thanks to the addition of shea butter. Better yet, for the childish amongst us, it’s blue colour gives off superhero vibes.
Available from Horace - £11-15
Art de Parfum - Le Joker
Not only do Art de Parfum have one of my favourite bottle designs, but I love the playfulness in their scents, Gin & Tonic and Sea Foam being two of my picks. Now they’ve introduced Le Joker which blends darkness with playful qualities. Le Joker is a woody scent at heart but combines salty elements from ambergris, and sweet spice from star anise, nutmeg and pepper. The darkness comes from a cigarette facet and a powdery element from makeup. Le Joker is a beautiful scent with real character, one to get your nose on.
Available from Art de Parfum - 50ml for £114
Lumin
Lumin describe themselves as premium care for the premium man. Whilst I can't attest to being a premium man, I can certainly agree that the packaging and products feel extremely high end. Lumin was created and developed in South Korea, and their products were crafted for men’s skin, using the highest quality ingredients. My favourites from the line are the Charcoal Cleanser and Moisturising Balm, which both feel luxurious to touch and left my skin feeling clean and hydrated. They offer a subscription service as well as an al a carte online store, perfect for looking after your skin this Autumn.
Available from Lumin - $12.80-23.20
Altr
Altr was founded by Alex Doyle, who wanted a range that spoke to him and worked for his own skincare needs. Altr combines skincare with makeup, as their products not only work to combat the causes of breakouts but also conceal and enhance. Beard & Brow Tame defines your facial hair, whilst Face Fix conceals dark circles and spots. The Premium Face Fash left my skin feeling clean and refreshed and Blemish Balm moisturised whilst leaving an even skin tone. Just the confidence boost we all need.
Available from Altr - £9.99-14.99
Mills x Primark
Joe Mills has teamed up with Primark to release a new skin and haircare range. The slick packaging and sharp logo look every part a premium product, however, the prices are incredibly reasonable. Joe covers most grooming product needs in the line, but my picks are the Coffee Hydrogel Mask, which feels great on skin and smells divine, and the Eau de Toilette which is incredible for £2.50, you can’t buy much for that price anymore, but you can smell great!
Available from Primark - £1-3
Harry’s
The ever expanding product range from Harry’s now includes an Anti-Dandruff and Scalp Care range. Harry’s offer their 2-in-1 Shampoo & Conditioner in 3 levels, depending on your needs, as they recognise how individual we all are. Also in the range is the Scalp Scrub, which feels incredible and exfoliates the scalp prior to washing. Lastly, the Scalp Cream which can be applied daily, soothing and hydrating the scalp. Harry’s have done it again!
Available from Harry’s - £8-9
Triumph & Disaster
Triumph & Disaster are a brand inspired by a Rudyard Kipling poem, and a philosophy to combine science with the best naturally sourced ingredients available. Their range encompasses hair, face and body, all sharply packaged and presented. My picks of the line are Coltrane Clay and Fibre Royale, which will look as great in your bathroom cabinet as it will in your hair. Style and substance, Triumph & Disaster have both in abundance.
Available from Triumph & Disaster - £9.95
