When it comes to buying leather products, especially high quality ones, Laurence’s advice is, “to ensure the product is of the highest quality leather, look at the smell and texture. It should smell like leather. It's hard to describe but it should definitely have a rich smell. When it comes to texture, the leather should be smooth. A heavy print means the quality isn't good, it will have been full of defects, so they print a wrinkled pattern which looks like skin onto the leather. Many people think this is an indicator of high quality, but it’s not. Good quality leather should be soft and smooth.”
