Italian purveyors of technical outerwear, Napapijri, have been producing market leading styles for over thirty years. First entering the world of travel accessories, introducing their Bering Bag to market in 1987, three years later the brand had increased their offering to include weather-resistant outerwear.

Napapijri offered initial outerwear styles in the form of their now iconic Skidoo jacket. A lightweight, water resistant jacket with cinched waist and high collared zip closure; it carried their signature Tribe branding on the front pocket. Despite being almost thirty years old, this was the brands' break-out style as their popularity hit a sharp incline with the wider European market around the mid-2000s. A brand born out of Italy, in the shadow of Mont Blanc, Europe's highest peak, with a Norwegian flag incorporated into their branding - Napapijri are as brilliantly undefinable today as they've always been. We take a look at their most recent Spring collection, including stand out styles in the form of the Athell Jacket.

Napapijri have always placed a laser focus on function over form, with their know-how and design DNA carefully woven into each piece. Despite this particular approach, they leave no stone un-turned when it comes to stylistically relevant design. Their Fallriver Cap is a shining example of this. At first glance you could be looking at a standard 5-panel cap. However, on closer inspection a wider front panel for a more flattering fit breaks this mould. Eventually constructed from 7 pieces, complete with woven eyelets and a clever elasticated toggle fastening on the rear, the brand start as they mean to go on with this headwear style.

Continuing to demonstrate their transcending ability when it comes to outdoor-centric apparel, the brand introduce the Bhell Sweatshirt. There's been no shortage of technical outerwear pieces on the market as of late. With the return of Nike's ACG line, the ever-increasing demand for North Face collabs and names such as Arc'teryx becoming more well known. The Bhell Sweatshirt is a style to rival any of the aforementioned brands' collections. In a medium weight, loopback terry cotton, it cuts a unique figure with a multi-panel design, reflective brand detailing and incorporated hand pockets. Finished with ribbed cuffs, neckline and hem to maintain warmth, this style is a must-have for the ardent outdoors type, as well as fans of the functional streetwear aesthetic.

By far the stand of piece for the season, the Napapijri Athell Jacket comes with enough technology and customisable features to warrant it being the only jacket style you could ever need. In a mid-weight 100% polyamide fabric, the Athell Jacket comprises four outer pockets, with zippered chest placement as well as at the waist, for functional storage options. A detachable, adjustable hood helps cater for sporadic weather patterns, and Velcro cuff fastenings means a perfect fit on the wrists. The standout feature of this jacket is the removable sleeves, zipping on or off to be worn as a jacket or gilet style, Napapijri cram in as many design features as necessary to fully equip you no matter the weather.

A final outerwear style from the brand this season is the Bhell Half Zip. Differing from the former Bhell Sweatshirt style, this half zip option combines the worlds of functional fleece and stylish pullover, resulting in the perfect technical mid-weight option. As well as their core technical apparel styles, we see a range of branded staples from Napapijri to compliment this offering. Their Bire Hoody takes a split logo approach to similar brand carrier items we've seen previously, and for warmer weather, the Sole Graphic T-Shirt features colourful prints on the back.
