THE HUNDREDS DROPS SPRING 2020 COLLECTION
Written by Rob Cupper in Brands on the 24th February 2020
Stalwarts of the streetwear scene since 2003, LA's The Hundreds have long been known as one of the godfathers of the graphic t-shirt trend that transcended to form streetwear as we know it today. From stocking local boutiques and paying their friends to buy up their initial drops, The Hundreds epitomise the grind that is synonymous with many of the founding fathers of the scene.
As a brand, The Hundreds is often mentioned alongside names including Stussy, FreshJive and Supreme who have each played their own vital role in the building of the behemoth world of streetwear that is now inescapable. We've seen multiple collab drops from The Hundreds in recent months, with the brand putting their recognisable stamp alongside global names such as Hard Rock Cafe, as well as more fine-tuned offering such as their horror capsule with Tristan Eaton.
Moving steadily into Spring, The Hundreds go back to showing us what they're capable of with a number of impressive cut and sew items, interspersed with brand carrier options, and, of course, unique accessories. The Peak Pullover Hoody takes the brands Rich motif and applies it to a two-tone, heavyweight 320gsm brushback cotton. In yellow and green, the Peak Pullover Hoody is reminiscent of the bright, in your face colour-blocking that was prevalent in streetwear's earlier years. A true throwback. See also, their Rich Embroidery T-Shirt that's been given a re-up for Spring. Continuing along a nostalgic vein, the Warp T-Shirt opts for a differing approach to branding application. A method that was popular amongst sportswear brands in the 90s, The Hundreds solid bomb logo is applied to the chest via a rubber TPR patch. The Warp T-Shirt is finished with a ribbed, multi-colour neckline.
Once again stepping up their cut and sew abilities, The Hundreds tap into polar fleece, bringing us their Trails Half Zip. 280gsm fleece forms the body, with contrasting nylon panels on the elbows and the neckline, it's an old-school style brought up to date with a modern material mix. As we've come to expect from many brands now, accessories play a part in The Hundreds Spring drop. We've seen HUF tackle headlamps, RipNDip take on couch pillows and Raised By Wolves venture into doormats. Now The Hundreds take things a step further in making sure your best pal is looked after. The Portable Dog Bowl you never knew you needed, now exists - complete with The Hundreds bar logo branding.
Finally, Adam Bomb makes a very welcome return. Designed by founder Bobby Kim after deciding the brand needed a mascot that would translate to audiences across the world, Adam Bomb has become a household figure for many of streetwears loyal disciples. Applied in a rich chenille embroidered patch form to the chest of the Switchback Pullover Hoody, and matching Camp Sweatpants, your tracksuit needs have been more than taken care of this Spring season - thanks to The Hundreds.
