Looking to get away from it all? Sometimes we need time to unwind for a couple of days out with our normal surroundings to truly relax. Great Britain is a place to be discovered and explored. The island might be small in size but there are countless locations to get lost in. Staycations are becoming ever more popular. Some of us travellers don’t want to face the stress that comes with airports and long-haul flights. Some of the best vacation experiences can be found right here in old Blighty. With endless attractions, unrivalled scenery, award winning museums and everything else in-between, the UK has it all. Whether you need inspiration for a city break or an escape to the country for the weekend, we have it all right here.

Canterbury, England 

Cruise your way round on a short break to Canterbury. Exploring Kent’s capital, Canterbury really feels as if you’ve walked back in time. With its outstanding Cathedral and charming pretty streets, there is a lot of things to do in Canterbury. We suggest going on the ghost tour which lasts for around 90 minutes. John Hippisley takes you on an adventure of history and haunted stories through the town’s streets. With its Roman Museum and endless classy restaurants, Canterbury offers so much even to the most discerning of visitor.

Lake District 

A weekend away in the Lake District. We’re starting with the Lake District because it offers some of the best natural beauty anywhere in the UK. With endless lakes, craggy fells, quaint villages and crashing waterfalls – there is so much to enjoy and experience. Added to this are an abundance of quirky museums, lake side excursions and village exploration.

Bath, England 

Taking a short break to Bath. Perched in the Avon Valley, Bath is the next place on our list. Filled with timeless beauty and loads of Instagram moments, Bath is a head turner for all the right reasons. Being filled with World Heritage walk ways, meandering your way round here will just make you feel happy in itself. The architecture of the Georgian era adds to its allure. You cannot visit here and not head to the Roman Baths, probably this destination’s most popular attraction. Bath also has its own modern thermal spa that is a mecca for those looking for to experience its centre for wellness. With an abundance of independent shops, bars and cafes and other boutiques, there is plenty to do. On the outskirts, Bath is a place filled with abundance. With rural farm shops, vegan in shots and favourable coffee houses.

Bristol, England 

Weekend breaks in Bristol. We checked it out and Bristol is one of the happiest cities in the UK. After a couple of days here exploring then it’s really easy to understand why. Within easy commute from London, Bristol offers those seeking relaxation away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Being a place that is passionate about art, it’s no surprise this port city has an abundance of entertainment and events as well as galleries throughout the city boundary. Easy to navigate as well as friendly, Bristol is a gem offering something different to visitors.

Glasgow, Scotland 

Last minute Glasgow deals. “People Make Glasgow” is a slogan the city has used for a while now and it couldn’t be more fitting. A short break in Scotland’s largest city should be considered for a number of reasons but visitors will always leave with a touch of the “Glaswegian” culture. Glasgow a friendly city filled with architecture, amazing attractions, nightlife and a blend of sophistication unique to the west coast of Scotland. No matter the type of break that you’re looking for, Glasgow has it all in abundance. Whether that’s a city break, take in the likes the Riverside Museum on the Clyde and the Burrell Collection which is filled with archaeological masterpieces. If visitors are looking for some great bars then head to the West End to trendy Finnieston and Ashton Lane. Glasgow is also a great shopping destination. With multiple fantastic shopping outlets as well as the popular Buchanan Street filled with designer shopping and big outlets. Enjoy the chic and vintage of the west end stores and the Barras to the East, where you gain a proper Glasgow experience.

The Cotswolds 

A staycation in the Cotswolds. The English countryside isn’t better visibly described better than the Cotswolds. From Somerset and Oxfordshire, to Gloucestershire and Warwickshire and beyond. Every county in the Cotswolds has its own story and pulling powers but we loved Gloucestershire the most. With its quaint and beautiful cottages, the offer of clay pigeon shooting and a trip to the Wild Rabbit in Kingham, there is lots to enjoy and experience here out with the amazing scenery.

Oxford, England 

Exploring Oxford on a weekend getaway. Oxford has much more to it apart from being home to one of the most prestigious Universities. It’s a place with charm, a location with history in the veins as well as being a place thriving with a young culture home to an array of great bars and memorable restaurants. Head to the likes of the Pitt Rivers Museum by day and the Covered Market for shopping and finish your day off at the Wychwood Hobgoblin at The White Horse on Broad Street. Only an hour from London, you can truly get the village experience not far from the city lights.

Cornwall, England 

Short break adventures in the county of Cornwall. Cornwall is a place to be discovered on a short break. Enjoying holidays in Cornwall should seriously be considered. With its sharp ruggy clifftops, the crashing waves, the quiet towns and the popular beaches, finding things to do in Cornwall is an easy task. Go in search of King Arthur at Tintagel’s romantic, clifftop ruin. Head to the popular Museum of Witchcraft and Magic – a place full of wonder for those interested in the world of magic. Head to the Minack Theatre with the Atlantic as its background then enjoy dinner at the award winning seafood restaurants dotted around. Enjoy the Eden project and St Michael’s Mount. So much exploration to be hand in Cornwall. 

The Scottish Highlands 

Explore the Scottish Highlands. The Highlands of Scotland pack a punch. It’s got some of the most gorgeous scenery anywhere in Western Europe. Short breaks in the Scottish Highlands are always popular. Jump on a sleeper train from London, wake up here and explore everything that’s on offer. With hikes to the Cairngorms, Nessie spotting on Loch Ness as well as Ben Nevis, the Highlands are the perfect place for those looking for outdoor adventures. Explore the visual structure of the Glenfinnan Viaduct and the wonders of the many coastal beaches. With St Andrews and Inverness (the Highland capital) worth visits too, this part of Scotland is memorable and then some.

North Norfolk, England 

Experience a summer trip to North Norfolk. With its many walkways and never ending skyline, North Norfolk is more than endearing to visitors. For those animal lovers, Norfolk is a haven. Experience the seals at Blakeley Point. Take time out on the North Norfolk Railway that takes you from Sheringham to Holt. In terms of restaurants you’re spoilt for choice. We suggest enjoying crab at The Jetty and the Guntarm Arms which is a meat eater’s paradise. North Norfolk is a place for those who love adventure, hospitality and great food. 

Edinburgh, Scotland 

Experience a hotel break in the Scottish capital Edinburgh. Scotland’s sister to Glasgow, Edinburgh is better known for its tourists and beauty spots. With the famous Fringe Festival taking place in August, the streets are packed with performers and all the venues are booked out with comedians and other great artists from morning until night. During the other 11 months of the year, you won’t be bored. Edinburgh has some of the most interesting and exciting attractions anywhere in the UK. From the wonders of the Edinburgh Castle and the Edinburgh Dungeons. Explore all the cobbled streets and take a hike up Arthurs Seat to experience the city skyline. Whether you fancy the Old Town or New Town, Edinburgh is easy to navigate and a great place for your next city break.
