THE MOST STYLISH PRODUCTS AND RELEASES THIS MONTH
Written by Craig Landale in Essentials on the 15th May 2019
Whilst barbecue season is underway let’s not forget how unpredictable the British weather can be. So don't go leaving the house in just short shorts and a tee just yet chaps. Let me bring your attention to some really cool product drops this month. We have a minimalist designed clothes steamer, a collaboration with TV Star Kem Cetinay and a pen made from recycled coffee capsules. So, following on from my April roundup, I’ve compiled a list of my favourite products and releases for the month of May 2019 – enjoy.
Nespresso x Caran d'Ache 849 Pen
Nespresso and Caran d'Ache have launched a second limited edition of the award-winning 849 pen made from recycled coffee capsules. The result gives environmentally conscious coffee and design fans something to write home about. The classic ballpoint pen has been reimagined in aluminium creating an accessory that is both elegant and trendy whilst maintaining environmental responsibility. The pen is this year presented in the deep rich green of Nespresso’s Master Origins India capsules, celebrating one of the most popular coffees from their range.
ASICS x HBX GEL-KAYANO 5 OG
HBX, Hypebeast’s online e-commerce destination, officially announces their first shoe collaboration, teaming up with Japanese brand ASICS to launch the ASICS x HBX GEL-KAYANO 5 OG collection. In the re-release of the iconic silhouette, it has referenced the inspirations for the 90s era to pay tribute to the original 1999 release date. The colourway of the shoe harps back to the year of transition to a more computerised world with the launch of Web 1.0 (Internet Explorer 5), original social networking sites, and heated discussions on dystopian sci-fi fantasy movies from the late nineties to early Y2K.
Steamery Cirrus No.2 Steamer
At £110 Steamery Cirrus No.2 is outstanding value for such an amazing piece of minimalist kit. Beautifully packaged with tan leather cable tidy and travel bag, we will probably never use an iron ever again. Steamery was founded in Stockholm, Sweden in 2014 by Martin Lingner and Frej Lewenhaupt. By combining a professional background in fashion and Scandinavian design aesthetics with high technology and sustainable values they aim to make it easier for people to take care of their clothes. As opposed to ironing, steaming is easier and is totally harmless even to fabrics that can't be ironed.
The North Face RTC Footwear Collection
The North Face lands its RTC Collection – a range of footwear built for putting in the miles in style. Comprised of three styles – the Sihl Mid Pop III, Spreva Pop, and Spreva running shoes – the collection is designed with as much focus on comfort as it is for catching the eye. Each model comprises of clean lines and bright pops of 90s colour perfect for making a statement. However, performance is not compromised by design, with Ortholite footbeds providing superior cushioning meaning that pavements can be pounded all day while the brand’s proprietary EXTS outsole traction system means better grip to help you move faster and further.

The home is the most intimate and personal space. The place that reflects your choices and tastes more than any other. The new Acqua di Parma Home Collection lends the final touch to a genuine home. New Balance 990v5
There's rarely a shoe that will be donned by male models, influencers and dads, but New Balance's 990v5 is likely to appeal to all three. This sillouhette by the Boston-based footwear label has paved a space as a true cultural icon. This is actually the brand's 5th update, with key features including refined construction and the iconic grey palette. The shoe has been refreshed for the current customer, with minimal aesthetics while incorporating new elements such as the TPU power strap and Ortholite inserts.
