Nestled deep within the intertwining canals of Herengracht, lies The Hoxton Hotel Amsterdam. Surrounded by street-markets, quirky locals and off the beaten touristy track, the Hoxton provides the idyllic components of everything needed in a city break.

Situated on one of the ‘nine streets’, within walking distance of Amsterdam Centraal Station and a short taxi trip from Schiphol Airport, the hotel is a prime location in relation to what all of Amsterdam has to offer. All major museums, parks and the different districts of The Dam are easily accessible via a short walk, free bike rental or tram ride.

The Hoxton hotel itself is a conversion of five, 17th century canal houses providing a spacious, coolly sophisticated vibe for the lobby and restaurant area. Furnished with exposed original brick, antiquated lighting, beaten leather and copper detailing carries the gorgeous façade of the building throughout all aspects of the hotel. Perfect for the modern city breaker.

The Room 

Rooms come in four sizes; ‘Shoebox’, ‘Concept’, ‘Cosy’ and ‘Roomy’ accommodating an assortment of budgets and needs for each individual stay. The design aspect smartly uses lighting and tight spaces in order to provide a combination of luxury, elegance and utilitarian with high quality furnishing linen, metro tiled open bathrooms and metal hangers instead of a wardrobe, maximising space to accommodate the king size beds.

Food & Drink 

Breakfast is provided via a brown bag which you hang on the outside of your room door to be filled with your choice of juice, yoghurt, granola and fruit to settle you into the morning. Water, tea and coffee is provided free in each room. However, a more substantial breakfast can be found in the hotel restaurant, Lotti’s. A lively neighbourhood restaurant with internationally inspired dishes of award-winning standard. Open from early morning until late at night the extensive menu accommodates for every appetite.

Hoxton’s lobby bar area is a hot spot during daytime hours for young Amsterdam natives maximising the superfast free Wi-Fi, a cosy mix of vintage armchairs and sofas, and free international calls for an hour each day. With glorious lighting from the long Georgian style-sash windows and a warm vibe emitted from the low dangling light-bulbs, the place transforms as the day passes into a hub for the urban drinker as various mixes of alcohol starts to flow at supermarket prices.

Each member of staff has their own personal favourite places that surround the hotel, ranging from food markets to clothing shops and even full itineraries for the day, allowing you to get the best out of each neighbourhood. A must visit is De Pijp; A Scandinavian meets urban heaven, full of cafes, restaurants and home to the Albert Cuyp Market. It is full of locals and has many things to see, whilst only being a short walk from the hotel. Of course, don't forget De Wallen (Red Light District) for a bustling nightlife and Nieuwmarkt en Lastage in order to experience real Amsterdam culture.
