This stunning independent luxury hotel is set in 163 acres of Cotswolds parkland. We'd heard that it had recently undergone a £9 million refurbishment by the McIntosh family, so we just couldn’t wait to check it out. When you first arrive at the lobby area you’ll get the instant sense that interior design was an important part of the hotel’s upgrade. Cleverly utilising the property’s historic features, by employing the original structures and grand fireplaces, the décor is regal, yet contemporary, without being too pretentious.

Further new additions at Tewkesbury Park Hotel include the sumptuous Orangery and Cocktail Lounge which both have the wow factor. We felt very relaxed here and ended up taking a window seat for a full afternoon to enjoy the views over the croquet lawn, golf course, Tewkesbury Abbey, Malvern Hills and the pretty Gloucestershire countryside. A nice touch worth mentioning is the wellington boot station for both adults and children guests wishing to explore the grounds in style. Oh, and there’s a Tesla supercharger in the carpark which is very handy indeed.

The Room 

After walking up a beautiful spiral staircase with houndstooth carpet we found our room. We loved the free-standing bath tub and Bramley wash products which was the first thing we saw upon entering. Each of the 85 guestrooms have received a complete refurbishment with plush new interiors, new Hypnos beds and 40” inch Smart TVs. The fruit plate waiting for us along with a cot bed for our baby was a nice touch too.

Food & Drink 

For an early dinner we sat in the stunning Orangery again as it had quickly become our favourite part of the hotel. We had fish and chips and a special pizza (Sloppy Anuj) created by the hotel's Chef Anuj Thakur and both dishes were epic. We then headed to their stylish Cocktail Lounge for a tipple and sat on big comfy arm chairs among slick homewares. We then headed out onto the lawn and parked up in one of the deck chairs to relax, read a few magazines, play giant Jenga and to enjoy some desert. The breakfast buffet selection was full of delicious pastries, flapjack treats and smoothies along with the usual hot breakfast options too.

Spa & Gym 

The hotel leisure facilities include state of the art Life Fitness gym equipment, 18 Matrix ic3 spin bikes, studio, squash and tennis courts and newly refurbished sauna, steam room, and indoor swimming pool. I must admit, I spent most of my fitness session sitting in the outdoor hot tub. However, if all this exercise stuff is not for you, you could just book yourself a massage with the hotel’s spa partner Natural Spa Factory of Bath.

Recently refurbished by the McIntosh family, we head to the Gloucestershire countryside to experience and review the Tewkesbury Park Cotswolds Hotel.
