It’s never easy leaving the dogs at home when you go on holiday, whether they are in kennels or with friends, you never fully relax and enjoy your time away at ease without worrying about them. So we have decided to give you a range of holiday ideas where you can take the pooch along too. Dogs are great companions and the health benefits they give us pointed out by rested paws are a massive bonus.

Isle of Wight 

One of the most popular dog-friendly places to visit, with a variety of walks along the coastlines, beaches to be explored and acres of woodland to run around. With dog welcomes on most beaches all year round to keep the pooch happy, there are plenty of restaurants such as The Buddle Inn and The Kings Head for the humans - as well as hotels and pubs that would love to have your furry friend - and you, of course. When it comes to accommodation look into Classic Cottages - who have over 70 pet friendly places to stay, so that everyone can enjoy their holiday based upon specific needs. In the Isle of Wight, dogs travel for free on all car ferry routes such as the Cowes passenger ferry and Hovertravel services, so you can get around with ease. Robin Hill Country Park: This is a gorgeous park with gardens set in a valley with lots for all the family to do, including your dog - providing they are kept on a lead. There is even a free poop scoop provided. 

Isle of Wight Steam Railway: This is an award winning attraction that welcomes dogs to travel in 1st or 3rd class. They must be kept on leads at all times and a doggie ticket costs just £3:00. 

Blackgang Chine: There are lots of rides, activities and things to explore here and your dog is welcome too. However, it’s worth noting that during high seasons it can get very busy - so if you have a sensitive pup you might not want to take him here.

France 

France has built a reputation for its love of dogs, who are welcomed almost anywhere in the country. With inner-city dog-friendly boutiques and seaside retreats it is no wonder this place is a haven for animals. Dogs here are commonly invited into many dining areas with owners, as well as shopping districts in Paris and Monaco where you will often see hand bagged pooches shopping with their fashion-conscious owners. This is the perfect holiday destination for those who want a trip away with their pup but don’t want to be limited on the activities they can take part in. In the rural areas of France, such as Brittany, you’ll find seaside cottages, beaches and great greenery for long walks - you and your dog will have the time of your lives here. Most cottages here cater for much larger groups - as they hope you will bring your furry friend along. Going to France can prove cheaper for holiday goers too as you can catch the Eurotunnel and dogs can be transported for only £18.

Scotland 

Scotland is the perfect location where the entire family can enjoy a summer break. With fairy pools, a staggering coastline and cullins, it is the perfect location with so much to see and do, there won’t be a single moment of boredom. Covering 30,420 square miles, Scotland is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of Britain. The country has a fantastic contrast of cities, mountains and stunning little villages - so look no further for dog-friendly activities and a day of fun. Here are just a few places you can enjoy with your pup in Scotland: 

Argyll and The Isles: with a beautiful combination of tranquil beaches, island creatures and national nature reserves it is the perfect location to enjoy a traditional Scottish summer in. Be sure to take a walk in Puck’s Glen with criss-cross bridges, rocky walls and heavily hung trees. 

The Highlands: Home to the UK’s biggest National Parks, which means you won’t be short of entertainment here. With fresh water lochs for your four-legged friend to explore as well as a great place for the family to enjoy some water sports, this location is a short drive from Loch Ness - don’t forget to tell the kids all about Nessie. 

Scottish borders: Whether it's cycling, walking, fishing or exploring the Scottish borders, this is yet another incredible location to enjoy where your pets are welcome on the journey. There are some delightful gardens here that allow your dogs to roam around and enjoy the fresh air.
