GARBSTORE OPENS ANNIVERSARY STORE
HOUSING A SERIES OF COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS, EVENTS AND ROTATING EXHIBITIONS IN SEVEN DIALS LONDON
Written by Menswear Style in Stockists on the 13th September 2017
September 2017 sees the opening of Garbstore.ten, a store created to celebrate a decade of the innovative British menswear brand, Garbstore. Set in the heart of London’s Seven Dials, the space introduces a series of collaborative projects, events and rotating exhibitions in addition to housing the brand’s new collection ‘Sunday Dispatch’. Then, now & future: Garbstore has had the opportunity to work with some of the most inspirational brands and designers over the last ten years and the new store will play homage to these relationships to create something exclusive and unique.
Situated in the heart of London’s Notting Hill, Garbstore first launched to critical acclaim in 2008 as is now firmly established as one of London’s best menswear shopping destinations. Deliberately eschewing the mainstream in favour of something innovative and unique, Garbstore seeks to champion niche, independent labels, providing a showcase for emerging talent, limited edition products and collaborations. In addition to representing the very best of cult brands from the UK and globally, Garbstore also is home to its eponymous menswear label, created and designed by Ian Paley.
From heritage to innovation, Garbstore.ten will provide a showcase for craftsmanship and design, old and new. Concepts so integral to the Garbstore brand when it launched ten years ago and still fundamental to this day. The new store will play host to an exclusive project with long-term partners, Reebok, who will showcase a rotating series of exhibitions throughout the tenure kicking off with The Next Step: Running Heritage. Garbstore collaborates with LA label, Surf is Dead, on a capsule collection of tees, hoodies and track-pants. Their iconic logo is reinterpreted, the Garbstore way, and combined with ‘call-girl’ graphics as inspired by London phone booths.
To celebrate relationships of past and present, Garbstore present the Decade Tee Collection. Collaborating with some of the makers behind their favourite labels, it features designs from Michael Koppelman, Brain Dead and Say Hello in addition to many more. A percentage of proceeds from sales will be donated to the Refugee Crisis – a global issue which is so prevalent at this time.
