Jamie Redknapp on Being the New Face of Burton Menswear

Football legend and style icon, Jamie Redknapp, has been announced as the new Face of Burton Menswear. Signed by the menswear favourite to launch its new collection, Jamie wears a selection of stylish pieces from the Burton Spring/Summer 2017 range with a focus on spring occasion-wear and tailoring, pieces from the casual collection also remain true to the brands tailored aesthetic.

“We’re really excited to have Jamie on board for 2017. His smart but relaxed attitude is what Burton is all about and our customers – and their partners, love his style. He’s a fantastic ambassador for us.” - Mitch Hughes, Burton Buying Director.

The relationship also sees Jamie take a role in the brand’s charity partnership - which has been announced this week. The Prostate Cancer UK and Burton Keepy Up Challenge, designed to raise awareness for the charity, sees the Liverpool and England hero showing off his skills by doing as many ‘keepy ups’ as he can while seated and suited, before challenging other well-known sportsmen to do the same. We caught up with Jamie this week for a quick chat.

What does it mean to you to be a brand ambassador for Burton Menswear?

"I’m really proud to be the new face of Burton Menswear. Style and looking good has always been important to me so it’s really great to be working for a brand that makes style so accessible for the everyday guy."

What sort of things do you normally ask your tailor, any specific styles or silhouettes?

"Whilst I admire the slimmer silhouettes that are on trend at the moment, I tend to opt for a classic slim cut rather than super skinny. Burton has lots of great options, from standard sizes up to Big and Tall."

How much 'wardrobe talk' goes on between you and the other pundits/presenters?

"It’s more banter than wardrobe talk with the guys. Guys are the first to point out when something doesn’t look good and the last to point out when something does, so you have to be confident in your look. I would say most men want to look good and want their mates to think they look good, but wouldn’t want to admit it. I think that’s certainly the case for the Burton guy."

Do you have a favourites from the Burton Spring/Summer collection?

"I think my favourite piece would have to be the navy double breasted suit. You can’t go wrong with navy, it’s pretty stylish and really versatile. You can dress it up with a shirt or go for a more casual look by wearing a round neck jumper underneath."

What is your current record for seated and suited keep-me ups?

"I managed to do 71 on the day but I reckon I could do a lot more; my son Charlie thinks he can beat my record easily!"

With Sturridge out of favour and Origi out of form, is Firmino Liverpool's future number nine or does Klopp need to buy heavy in the Summer?

"Firmino has improved a lot in his second year at the club but he can’t do it alone. They need reinforcements and more players who fit Klopps philosophy and style of football. Bringing in Mane has made a big difference and has helped Firmino, but they need a few more players with pace who can get behind the defence."
