THE WEIRDEST SUPREME ITEMS EVER SOLD
DID FASHION CONSCIOUS KIDS REALLY DROP THEIR POCKET MONEY ON A HOUSE BRICK?
Written by Paddy Maddison in Fashion History on the 10th January 2017
There are very few brands out there capable of whipping people up into such a frenzy that they will happily camp outside a shop for a week just to be in with a chance of buying a hoodie. Capable of selling a crew neck jumper for £130, only for it to be reselling for £1k a day later. Capable of making fashion conscious kids drop their pocket money on a house brick. Yes, a house brick!
Which brand are we talking about? NY Skateboarding and streetwear giants Supreme of course. Over the years, Supreme has come to be known for many things: The celebrity print T-shirts, box logo hoodies & sweats, notoriously poor customer service and of course bizarre novelty items emblemised with their trademark script logo.
Some people like to imagine there's some meaning behind these accessories: perhaps the floodlight is to signify skating at night, maybe the hot water bottle was because its so cold in NY in the winter? Either that or it's Supreme's way of saying "we can literally put our name on anything and you will buy it". There have been some truly stupid creations over the years. Let's take a look at some of the standout accessories in order of “kind of cool I suppose” to “oh my god, I can’t believe people paid money for that”.
10. Supreme X Louisville Slugger baseball bats 9. Switchblade comb 8. Bolt cutters 7. Supreme X Hardcore hammer 6. Brown paper liquor bags 5. Air Horn 4. Supreme X Kidde Fire extinguisher 3. Supreme X Sky Bounce bouncy ball 2. Dog bowl 1. House brick
So, there you have it. We guess it might be quite cool to have a Supreme baseball bat hanging on your wall, but £25 for a house brick? Perhaps not.
