The year is almost over and it’s been an important one style-wise. A lot has changed and we’ve learnt some important lessons in menswear. In anticipation of 2016 finally drawing to a close we thought it would be fitting to take a look back at the most important style lessons we can take from this year’s best and worst dressed celebrities.

Samuel L Jackson: Real style knows no age 

It really doesn’t matter if you’re closer to 60 than you are to 20, if you’ve got style you’re going to look good regardless. Sam Jackson is 67 years old now and he’s still one of the slickest guys on the planet, due in no small part to his painfully cool dress sense. Keep it up Sam, and the rest of us will continue to take notes.

Kanye West: Trends move on… fast 

It doesn’t matter who’s wearing it. It doesn’t matter how much you paid for it. If you can’t sniff out a fad before you pick out your clothes, then you’re going to wind up looking like a fashion victim. Case in point, Mr Kanye West. He was topping best-dressed lists left right and centre with his unique style last year but it’s really starting to look a bit dated and boring now to be honest. Let’s face it, Ye has never exactly been a purveyor of timeless style.

David Beckham: A plain white t-shirt is easy but never lazy 

Simple, classic items are the backbone of any man’s wardrobe but don’t fall into the trap of thinking that basic means boring, it doesn’t. Less is more when it comes to many outfits and it’s impossible to go wrong with a crisp, clean plain white t-shirt. David Beckham knows, and you should too.

Sam Smith: Accessorise wisely 

Accessories really do have the potential to make or break an outfit so they need to be wielded with extreme caution. We had nothing but great things to say about Sam Smith's outfit at the Oscars this year – that was until he undid his suit jacket. A perfect example of how one small badly planned accessory can throw an otherwise great outfit completely off balance.
