Reiss Launch AW16 Collection

As ever, with the arrival of the autumn, it’s all change for menswear. For the Reiss man this means a return to layering, a new appreciation of colour and texture and a fresh range of trends to pick and choose from.

Tailoring has always been at the heart of the Reiss man’s wardrobe, but now – perhaps more than in any previous season – the way to approach wearing this wardrobe stalwart has undergone a radical rethink. Call it a culmination of menswear’s love affair with sports luxe or a new found appreciation of comfort dressing, in the AW16 lookbook suits that otherwise appear boardroom ready are given a bold new twist thanks to unfamiliar styling partners. Namely, that’s trainers, gilets, knits and zip sports tops, all of which give tailoring a new lease of life. The suit once was a workwear uniform, but this season it’s chameleon-like in its ability to be worn in countless ways.

A healthy dose of black, grey and navy has become the base on which most men build their winter wardrobes, and true to form this trio of colours give the AW16 lookbook its colour foundation. Alongside this though, racing green, camel and shades of plum make the case for colour which feels bold enough to offer interest to outfits yet restrained enough to keep things feeling sophisticated.

As a complement to this deep and moody colour palette, pieces for AW16 offer subtle texture to add design detail that looks even better when viewed up close. Knitwear is a prime example of this boasting flecks, classic knit techniques, fibrous finishes and mottled weaves. Outerwear too makes texture for AW16 look easy. Shearling, long pile hair and even fringing bring new flair to classic shapes.
