Huntsman Launch SS16 Collection

Established in 1849, Huntsman are a leading tailor on Savile Row in London. Offering both Made-to-Measure and Ready-to-Wear, their tailoring is timeless and versatile. This season Huntsman proudly introduce their most carefully curated collection to date - offering elegant pieces of superior craftsmanship to perfectly represent Huntsman’s aesthetic.

This Spring/Summer 16 Huntsman’s aim is to provide customers with British summer staples as investment pieces which can be worn year after year. Their focus is on the typically British summer event, Royal Ascot Races. After picking their brains for an hour we’ve come up with this guide on what to wear to the races this year.

Huntsman SS16 Collection

With a timeless idea in mind the brand’s Creative Director and Co-Head Cutter, Campbell Carey, has designed clothing with a use of texture in a subtle form. Both their suits and separates are made from herringbone and hopsacks which give a soft and contemporary visual. Shirt materials are made from either linen or sea island cottons in shades of white, blues or pastels that make for easy light summer dressing. These shirts are also designed by Carey and curated by shirt maker Emma Willis in her award winning workshop in London. Both fabrics come in two styles of shirt; slim and classic which sit well under their signature one-button suit jacket. While their sports jackets are half-lined for comfort and finished with patch pockets for a relaxed look. Lastly, you can choose from a selection of trousers in either summer cotton or lightweight wool.

Inspiration for the Races

While preparing for the races it can be difficult to dress ‘simple’ whilst with the aim of standing out from the crowd. When it comes to formal dressing a white shirt will not let you down. Opt for a button cuff and slim fit to keep the look contemporary. Granted it’s easy to settle for a two piece suit but wearing suit separates can be just as smart together. A sports jacket is equally comfortable as it is versatile, particularly a blue or cream linen option, while patch pockets work well for storing your event programme (and winnings). Trousers play an important part on looking both fresh and smart - keep them slim fitting. If you’re wearing a blue sports jacket for example, instead of wearing the correct matching trousers, try camel cotton for a dapper contrast. Lastly, add a textured hand-stitched silk tie.

Campbell Carey has also designed a range of evening Read-to-Wear looks - these include shawl-collar single-breasted dinner suits in black barathea, and midnight blue single breasted dinner jackets. The pieces are all of a high standard that Huntsman pride themselves on, leaving customers with a collection that is elegant.
