5 Grooming Products to Transition Into Spring

Many men think they can use the same grooming products year-round. However, products made to use in the winter are meant to meet different needs than products for spring and summer. As the weather warms up and transitions into spring, consider updating your grooming products to go along with the change.

Sunscreen

While you should wear sunscreen year-round, it's crucially important to wear it during the spring and summer months when the sun's rays are the strongest. When you're picking out a sunscreen, it's important to consider its Sun Protection Factor, or SPF. Obviously, the higher the number, the higher the protection. For example, an SPF 15 sunscreen will filter out about 93 percent of all UVB rays, an SPF 30 sunscreen will block 97 percent, and an SPF 50 sunscreen will keep out around 98 percent of UVB rays. When you're picking out a sunscreen, it's also important to look for a broad-spectrum sunscreen, which offers both UVB and UVA protection.

Face Wash

Since you tend to sweat more in the warmer months, it's important to maintain a clean face to help keep your pores unclogged. This is when a deep-cleaning face wash that's made for daily use will come in handy. It will wash away the dirt and oil that accumulates on your face over the course of the day without drying out your skin too much. If you're not doing any activities that cause you to sweat more than normal, you can wash your face once a day. However, for those extra active days, consider a second wash to clear away the additional sweat.

Exfoliator

Another key product to help keep your skin clean during the warmer months is an exfoliator. Even though you wash your face every day, you still have a lot of dirt and oils that can get deep in pores and clog them. An exfoliator cleans deeply to remove this grime, and it has the added benefit of helping to repair your skin. Skin naturally regenerates every 30 days, but as you age, this process slows down. Exfoliation mimics this regeneration, and helps clear away dead skin cells that can dull your complexion.

Shampoo

The added sweat of spring and summer also means you need to shampoo your hair more often. Try to wash your hair at least every other day to clean out the sweat and grime. There are plenty of shampoos on the market to meet every hair need. If you're worried about your hair becoming too dry, you can use a moisturizing shampoo or conditioner. If you style your hair with oils or gels, use a clarifying shampoo to get a deep clean. Or, if you feel like your hair is thinning a little, you can use a thickening shampoo to give your hair a temporary increase in volume.

Styling Products

The weather during spring is unpredictable, so you need styling products that can keep up with the changes. If you're trying to stiffen your hair, gel works best. To make sure you don't end up with a greasy look, pick out a gel that's made for your hair type. A light-hold gel works best for fine hair, while thicker hair needs a strong-hold gel. Creams don't have much holding power, but they're ideal for fighting frizz. Hair spray is a great finisher that will lock your style into place.

However you decide to style your hair, you can find a variety of products that will suit your needs during the spring and summer months. You can get men's grooming products from Amway which are specifically formulated to fight issues like frizz from humidity. Or, consider a hair spray that comes with a built-in sunscreen to protect your hair from damaging UVA and UVB rays. If you're sporting a shaved head and don't need styling products, don't forget to apply sunscreen to your scalp. From pore-clogging sweat and oil to painful sunburns, your skin deals with plenty of unique issues as spring approaches. To make sure you're ready for the transition, stock up on these essential grooming products.
