INTRODUCING BURTON MENSWEAR SS16
CLARITY, QUALITY AND MODERN MASCULINITY
Written by Menswear Style in New Collections on the 29th January 2016
For SS16 Burton has created the ultimate spring collection. Essential wardrobe builders and timeless pieces designed for the unpretentious, uncomplicated yet stylish man. The story begins with tailoring. For summer occasion or summer business, Burton suiting is second to none. Three super 100 Italian weave suits in navy, grey and slate showcase the luxury offering in their formal line. Light to the touch, the high quality natural fabric offers the perfect antidote to office days spent in the summer sun. For weekends and events, a pale blue suit worn tieless with a yellow shirt and a range of linen suiting in natural hues creates further relaxed options.
Off-duty sophistication comes via the fresh and minimal ‘Loft’ trend. Contemporary and smart, the range comes with clean Scandinavian lines and airy simplicity. A light-infused colour palette of powder blue, rosewood, light grey and white add to the feeling of ease. Hero items such as a textured white t-shirt, lightweight waffle knit jumper and a dove grey bomber jacket provide the dress-down options. Whilst blazer separates in sand, chambray and the occasional darker hue of slate and navy are more work-day friendly. Coordinate dressing is key, a charcoal marl safari jacket comes with matching trousers and shorts, with an option in navy blue providing the colour block version.
Utility sets the scene for casualwear where classic design meets colour and print creating an effortless and wearable aesthetic. Here we find the staples of menswear such as the Harrington, navy utility jacket and longline fleck knit presented in stone, coco and khaki with shots of moss, indigo and red spice. Layering and print clash adds interest; a checked shirt is worn over an all-over print t-shirt, whilst a dark chambray leaf print shirt is worn with a short-sleeved grandad tee.
