TGski Chalet Les Pierrys Morzine Review

When landing in Geneva Switzerland for our ski holiday we had imagined the scene from Cool Runnings when they arrive at Calgary airport in Canada. We expected a snow blizzard to great us but sadly this wasn’t the case. In fact, there was no snow to be seen whatsoever. But we later learned that this is normal for the area and after an hour or so drive we were in Morzine greeted with plenty of snow and mountain views. We were here to experience a brand new refurbished luxury chalet known as Chalet Pierrys by TGski and on arrival we were met by a team of enthusiastic smiling faces as we pulled into the drive. The team were quick to introduce themselves and grab our suitcases to take to our rooms - this is service we could certainly get used to.

The Chalet

We were the first to stay in this newly redesigned 7 bedroom chalet just 600m from the centre of Morzine and the scent of the fresh wood was evident from the moment we stepped foot inside. The main dining area had filled champagne glasses in formation waiting for us – the perfect welcome drink. The lounge area was as cosy as they come, styled with tartan blankets, cosy rugs, a huge glass log burning fire, board games, Nespresso coffee machine, Wi-Fi and Bose bluetooth speaker. This room leads out onto a full length balcony with sweeping mountain views over Morzines ski slopes.

For those who like to make their friends jealous on Instagram, you can dive into a balcony hot tub that offers breath-taking panoramas. The chalet runs just like a luxury hotel with daily house-keeping and turndown, and The White Company Toiletries for the added touch. Our room took a similar interior design approach to the main lounge with tartan and check designs, and the modern spacious bathroom is spot on. There’s even a lift that will whizz you up from the entrance and boot room into the living area and bedrooms.

Food

The large oak dining table is the centrepiece and Chef Dan Draper and his team offered such a great food service. There’s morning wakeup hot drinks brought straight to your room and constant cocktails being made for you in the evening whether you’re sat next to the fire watching TV or sat in the hot tub taking in the views of the mountains at night. Dan is a Michelin Star trained chef (Polllen Street Social, Texture) and each morning he puts on an amazing cooked breakfast where he actually makes his own croissants. Then in the evening you’re treated to a gourmet 3 course meal with Champagne and canapés before and cheese and Port afterwards. Every meal is different each night and accompanying wine and beer is served according to his suggestion. There’s also a daily afternoon tea which greets you at around 5pm as you return from the slopes - this is luxury skiing for foodies at its best.

Skiing

We headed to Avoriaz because the snow gods at Morzine were a little late to the party this season. Avoriaz had plenty of snow and plenty of its runs were in full swing. The TGski team fitted our ski equipment at the chalet and transferred us in their minibus service to the lifts. This was a first experience for MWS Gemma and due to the amazing tutoring skills of The Snow Institute she was confidently skiing on her own by date two. However, for some, it’s all about the après ski and both Morzine and Avoriaz had a great selection of mountain boozers where we could enjoy a tipple whilst soaking up the sunshine. And if you get a little carried away with the après ski lifestyle, TGski provide a complimentary driver service running until 10:30pm.
