REEBOK CLASSIC BRINGS BACK THE ICONIC AZTEC OG
FEATURING A NOSTALGIC FILM WITH FOUNDER JOE FOSTER AND CREPE CITY’S MORGAN WEEKES
Written by Menswear Style in New Collections on the 21st August 2015
In the film, Joe Foster re-visits the factory in Bury where the original Aztec was produced and explores the deep heritage and monumental impact the shoe had back in 1979, as well as discussing the importance of today’s eagerly anticipated return of the sneaker. Joe’s personal recollections are complimented by a modern take on the story from Crepe City’s Morgan Weekes, who details the relevance and importance of the shoe to the current sneaker community.
Flexible, lightweight and the ultimate in comfort, the 1979 Aztec OG showcases 75 years of racing shoe specialisation. Stitch for stitch remodeling of the sneaker makes this bring-back a collector’s favourite, with use of the exact materials and construction technique from the first ever 1979 Aztec OG.
Bold blue underlays are contrasted with sunshine yellow and bright red track line inspired overlays, making this eye catching sneaker truly stand-out. The unique ghilley lacing system creates a secure ankle case, providing comfort and agility that’s complimented with a flex-dip toe box, enabling speed and flexibility. An EVA wedged cushioned base is executed in fresh white with a pop of blue, for a sneaker that’s comfortable and stylish on and off the track. Finishing off the sneaker is a one piece “roadstar” gristle outsole creating a grid-like base aesthetic for added extra grip.
The Reebok Classic Aztec OG is available 22nd August RRP £80 with 1,895 pairs available in the US, UK and Japan at select retailers worldwide.
