The Radisson Blu Edwardian, Mercer Street boasts one of the best locations in London. The hotel is brimming with boutique features and an eclectic sense of style. From the modern art that bedecks the building’s walls and lobby to the vibrant greens and deep purples in the public areas and bedrooms, Mercer Street retains a contemporary, individual feel that is entirely in keeping with one of London’s hippest village locations. Situated within our favourite area of Covent Garden, Seven Dials, where you will find the likes of Monmouth Coffee, Fred Perry, G-Star, Le Coq Sportif, Nike, Murdock London, Christy’s Hats and Dr. Martens (to name a few).

The local area is picture perfect with small single road cobble streets with designer shops all leading to a quirky roundabout where people sit and people-watch for hours. This is London at its best! Visitors will find a hotel that lives and breathes the rich culture and history of the community around it. The ballet-themed pictures are a nod to the historic Royal Opera House located just a stone’s throw away whilst the theatrical make-up mirrors in the luxury suites neatly reflect the prestigious surroundings of London’s iconic Theatreland.

The room 

The hotel has 137 bedrooms, including doubles and deluxe rooms, as well as eight suites. Our room wasn’t huge but space has been cleverly used in all corners. This is central London which means space is not wasted. The room décor is glamourous and we liked how no furniture and finish is squared. Instead clever angles and unusual lines make the room feel alive. There’s all the modern essentials such as large screen TV (with Apple media) and a Nespresso machine for proper coffee. The bathroom was probably the main wow feature, being more generous in size and completed in high class marble. However, the hotel offers all the comfort of a four star deluxe hotel alongside little touches of individual flair.

Scoff & Banter 

Adding to the hotel’s boutique feel and neighbourhood atmosphere is Scoff & Banter, a buzzing restaurant and terrace in vibrant Seven Dials offering lunch, dinner and afternoon tea – all with a distinctly modern flavour. The restaurant is attached to the hotel and is true British home comfort food at its best. Fish & chips, Steak, Burgers and Pies. The Apple Crumble (and custard) was probably the best we’ve had in many years. The crumble was extremely crunchy and flavoursome. It would be worth visiting this restaurant just for this dessert alone. Breakfast was also served here and it featured the all-important buffet selection along with menu cooked to order options.
