5 TIPS ON IMPROVING YOUR ROAD TRIP STYLE
FROM BUYING SUMMER SHOES TO WEARING A HAT...
Written by Menswear Style in Tips & Advice on the 6th July 2015
Whether you plan on staying at home or travelling abroad, summer is fast approaching and it is finally time to pack away those winter woolies and start picking your summer essentials, but where to begin? Here are our top five picks on how to stay stylish while travelling this summer.
Invest in a good jacket
Barbour has long been considered the epitome of classic British style, and they're not just for offering quilted or wax jackets (although if you are staying in the UK this summer, investing in one may not be the worst idea) but they also stock a huge range of practical and comfortable summer wear, to keep you cool and stylish this summer. Outdoor and Country’s Barbour Outlet is a great place to start shopping for those summer essentials.
Buy some shorts
Shorts are another key summer staple. On those days when it’s just too hot for jeans, you will need a good pair of shorts. If travelling or backpacking it is a good idea to invest in some board shorts, which can perform both as daytime wear with a t-shirt and as swimwear when it’s time to hit the beach/pool, saving you both weight and space in the process. For the modish man though, skinny fit chino shorts are on trend and move well from the city to the shore - and there’s plenty of high street stores that stock this kind of style, so they’ll be easy to find.
Try wearing a hat
Bringing a hat along may not seem like a priority to many, however, they are vital when travelling in the sun. Not only offering you protection from the sun, a straw trilby or a Panama hat will also add a touch of style to any travelling outfit and has the added bonus of covering up any terrible travelling hairstyles, or unwashed beach hair.
Step into some summer shoes
It is vital when picking your footwear when travelling that you pick a design that can be versatile, worn with shorts during the day or with jeans at night, as the last thing you want to be doing is taking up valuable space and weighing your luggage down with five different pairs of shoes. Invest in a good pair of trainers in either black or brown, and of course make sure they are comfortable, you might be wearing them all day and all night. Boat shoes or loafers are a good secondary option too.
Purchase some key accessories
Some men still shy away from this term, however, a few key pieces can do wonders for your travelling wardrobe, a plain tie can take that casual checked shirt to a stylish outfit for a night out. Or a good pair of sunglasses will not only cover up the effects of a long night but add a cool touch to an otherwise ordinary outfit.
These few simple tips can transform your travel style this summer, making sure you will be ready for whatever your holiday can throw at you!
