Baselworld 2015 introduced us to an array of new watches from watch brands ranging from accessible Citizen to luxury Hublot. One of the most exciting announcements from the weekend was from TAG Heuer who announced new and modern ambassadors for the brand and also limited edition pieces for each. The new ambassadors include fashion model/actress/singer/trendsetter Cara Delevingne, chart-topping DJ David Guetta and famous footballer and Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo. A new era of TAG Heuer has begun and Jean-Claude Biver clearly wants the world to know.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s limited edition piece is unlike any other TAG Heuer we’ve seen before. It shows the brand’s current willingness to try out new designs and ideas in an attempt to keep up with the ever-changing watch industry and become more accessible and appealing to the modern generation.

The most notable feature of the CR7 is the colour. A vibrant dark green that represents the football pitch Ronaldo calls his home. This colour is found on the hands, indexes, inner bezel and most evident on the NATO strap which gives it a sporty appearance- an obvious aim in the design process no doubt. The matte black titanium carbide on the watch contrasts against the wash of colour and gives the watch a dominating element. The caseback of the watch has been engraved with a football logo to show the relation to the sport and to show the authenticity that it is a limited edition TAG Heuer. It is also water resistant to 200 metres.

Only 3000 pieces of this model have been made which sounds a lot but there is no doubt that this watch will be popular to a wide range of men. This limited edition TAG Heuer is available exclusively for pre-order from The Watch Gallery.
