More suited to the urban playgrounds than the track, this fashion trainer is the height of sport luxe. After an absence from the footwear scene for 20 years, the eagerly anticipated ASICS GEL-Lyte V returns in a range of fresh colourways. With faux suede, synthetic mesh and a neoprene collar this is a classic model for the eco-conscious customer. 

The base for many of the increasingly popular trendy trainer collaborations - you know the ones... Nike X Liberty, Adidas X BAPE Superstar etc. If it has an X in it, it's a collaboration of some sort. However, this time I'm taking a look at one of ASICS' more popular shoe silhouettes, the GEL-Lyte V in a low-key navy.

This version of the GLV isn't going to attract attention like all those limited edition ones, these GLVs are very understated, a great quality in a trainer in my opinion. I favour a low profile converse or Fred Perry trainer to be discreet most of the time. Being a minimal colourway and style makes it a perfect addition to your shoe repertoire as it can be paired with almost anything.

A tried and tested combination of suede and mesh, the shoe is sleek, comfortable and cool - everything you'd want from an everyday trainer. Easy to dress up for the sports luxe look and just as easy to dress down as a regular trainer. Not only that, it's vegan friendly too! The entire upper is awash with navy faux suede and eco-friendly mesh, while the side paneling is accented in burgundy faux leather. This is complimented by a cream midsole which is also made from eco-friendly rubber and includes a grey and navy-speckled heel. Now you can look good and feel morally superior safe in the knowledge your trainers are as eco-friendly as your Boris bike! 

While these trainers won't exactly see me through the 26.2 miles of the London Marathon in support of ELF this weekend, they'll most certainly provide me with a stylish and effortlessly comfortable home for my weary feet afterwards. Well done to ASICS on creating this extremely versatile and seriously cool sport luxe trainer.
