A GIFT GUIDE FOR THE MODERN DISCERNING GENTLEMAN
ELEGANT AND CLASSY PRESENTS FOR CHRISTMAS 2014
Written by James Clayton in Tips & Advice on the 10th December 2014
The best time of year is upon us once more and time to write those wish-lists for Santa. Whether you're buying for that special gentleman in your life, dad, son, brother, secret Santa, or even a cheeky preside for yourself, my Christmas list must-haves should leave you feeling relaxed and calm from the storm that is Christmas shopping.
Kiehl's Ultimate Man Refuelling Gift Set - Smellies as a Christmas present are essential, everyone needs them. So why not splash out (away from the standard 3 for 2) and go for this. The set contains a facial fuel energising moisture treatment, energising face wash and ultimate strength hand salve. Manly moisturing, pre-wrapped, simple.
Mondaine Helvetica No1 Bold 43mm - Being an owner of a Mondaine watch myself, I cannot praise them highly enough. Simple, elegant, timeless designs paired with exquisite Quartz movements and Swiss manufacturing quality. The new Helvetica range is bold yet understated. A wonderful addition to any gents wrist.
Monsieur London at Treville Brown leather driving gloves - Every gent needs a pair of leather driving gloves, even if you don't drive. Practical and stylish, these handmade lambskin gloves are so soft it's silly. They also make you feel like Ryan Gosling in Drive, which can only be a good thing.
My Selection by David Gandy - Another Christmas gift staple, the sock. These are a bit special though. In collaboration with male supermodel David Gandy, the London Sock Company have compiled this gift set for winter. 3 great styles including a purple houndstooth which is incredible. Jazz up your gents sock drawer this Christmas.
Shaun Gordon Squire Golden Yellow Paisley Silk Tie - One of my favourite neckwear designers at the minute is Shawn Gordon. Both design and quality is exceptional. This yellow paisley silk tie is bold yet elegant and would be the perfect addition to any gents tie rack. Looking for a tie this year? Look no further!
Russell & Bromley Keeble 3 Tassel College Loafer - The tassel loafer is, again, something every man should have in his shoe arsenal. This Oxblood pair are something else! As you can expect with such a renowned brand, the quality is brilliant, the design is flawless and they are very high on my wish list.
Zara Single Breasted Camel Coat - This seasons must have item has been and still is, the camel coat. This example from Zara is 80% wool, has beautiful notched lapels and quaint vent detailing. £159 for a wardrobe staple and an autumn/winter (and probable spring) investment piece is a veritable bargain!
Drake's Classic Silk Shoe String Pocket Square - The uprising of the pocket square has been swift and now, no wardrobe can be complete without a plethora of silky numbers. My pick for Christmas is from Drake's and is 100% silk and made in England. The classic pattern means this square can be used on most occasions.
Simon Carter Lewes Leather Workbag - Who said that bag collections are a trait of the fairer sex? This Simon Carter work bag is both durable and stylish and with its carry handle and detachable shoulder straps, it ensures a multipurpose bag that will, and I quote, "compliment your professional wardrobe for years to come". I couldn't have put it better myself.
Eton White Slim Fit Single Cuff Shirt - Finally, another staple of every gents wardrobe and a wonderful gift. A stunning, Cambridge twill, cutaway collar, slim fit, white shirt. This isn't any white shirt, this is an Eton Shirts white shirt. Arguable one of the finest shirt makers in the world, what gent wouldn't want to receive this?!
