Parmigiani Fleurier chooses November to celebrate the city of Rome with 'Chronicles of Time', an exhibition dedicated to its Tonda Métro collection in the Stadium of Domitian. The archaeological site had been reopened after many years and the brand hosted an exclusive event with a select number of guests - it sowed its timeless beauty with a new light design.

Giacomo Costa, visionary photographer, lent to Parmigiani Fleurier the title for the soiree by setting alongside the Swiss-made timepiece label a selection of his works – pictures of urban landscapes where nature tries to reset her space and digital incursions on skylines.

A perfect meeting between art and craftsmanship; Tonda Métro is indeed the most contemporary line by Parmigiani Fleurier and it was conceived for urbanites with a true metropolitan spirit. 

The aesthetics of the dials in the collection uses the principle of contrasts to highlight a particular aspect. On the men’s Tonda Métrographe, the chronograph complication is underlined thanks to the highlighting of its minute and hour counters.

The grey counters, which sit on top of snailed discs, stand out against the white grained dial. On the black dial version they are outlined with Superluminova material which makes them visible in the daytime and renders them luminous at night. 

On the Tonda Métropolitaine, feminine curves soften the piece’s modern lines. The straight outline of the case finds a contrast in the 'flinqué' finishes on the dial, which takes the form of undulating waves. The numerals and index are inlaid, standing out in rounded relief from a two-dimensional background characterised by straight lines.

The Collection launched at the beginning of 2014 and comes from a partnership between Parmigiani Fleurier and the Musée de l’Elysée. The Métrographe watch for men and the Métropolitaine for women adorn the wrists of busy city dwellers, as they live and breathe every minute of the day.
